2. No more MSNBC for me.
Like Tweety, Ratigan, stress inducing.

I can catch Olberman and Maddow and Ed or whatever on youtube.

Moving from Comcast to Dish dropped MSNBC, couldn't watch it if I had to.

Off topic, I know.

But so far, Dish f'n rocks!

Almost everything is HD and it's 10 bucks cheaper.

I might upgrade one level to get Planet Green, Smithsonian, Science, and BBC America, which are not in the TurboHD Silver package.

What else do you want to know?

:P

53. Horizontal violence is common among the servent class
We don't feel heard by our masters and so we snipe at one another. As a 20 year veteran in a profession that is rife with horizontal violence, I know it when I see it. I wondered what we were going to do when all the benchmarks were hit (Democratic majority in the House and Senate, Democratic President) and still We The People were being marginalized and ignored. Now I know what the first step is - we revert to helpless anger toward one another. Hopefully, we won't get stuck here and move on to a more empowered place.

43. it makes people mad when I say this
...But I equate the pack mentality of the haters to a pack of hyenas attacking from every angle. As you save your right foot, another rips a chunk of flesh from your left shoulder. It's the pack mentality (challenge one person and 5 others jump in and start on you) that is most disturbing. It feels like high school all over again. Don't you just love it when people feel free to cut you down while talking to another DUer? That takes a lot of guts :sarcasm:

14. You've gone over the edge.
What are you, in the pockets of AT&T?

Now, if they had U-Verse in my area I might have gotten that, but they don't.

And the airheads at the ATT store didn't understand their own product.

So I found a local installer for Dish, he reminded me of you, and he dug up the right product for me including DVR, two HD receivers, no installation or equipment costs, 54/month fixed for two years.

That damn "low price for first 12 months" crap was pissing me off (they all do this)-- I was shopping for year 2 and 3 and the like, not falling for that first year bullshit.

Anyway, I don't even know what to do with all the HD programming.

So, how do you like your DirectTV, traitor?

29. The tuner goes up to 9999. The dish tracks 3 Satellites.
I don't even know 1/10 of the channels I'm getting, so there's more there than I can describe.

For example, a great Chinese Culture station I found.

Another, Pentagon Channel, had Stephen Colbert delivering an award to a General I did not recognize.

And HD on LCDs in two rooms, well, it's easier than getting video up on my macs with a slow DSL connection.

13. I read this one:
http://help.senate.gov/BAI09A84_xml.pdf

At this point, I'm not sure what incarnation it is - but it seems to be relatively recent (not including Reid's amendments of course).

A lot of it is simply word revision to existing laws (percentage of text) and looks longer because of the formatting.

I haven't done a deep reading, however. Just a first run-through to get a sense of what I was getting myself into (i.e., do I need to have alcohol or a razorblade on standby?)

Also, lotsta of little newbies yelling "Kill the Bill" and other niceties.

I find that the general mentality here is filled with hate, venom, and lashing out
about everything.

Quote from Blogger that I will probably add and use as part of my signature:

"Anyone who is “betrayed by their naiveté” should feel doubly ridiculous for thinking the change they voted for would come overnight. Status quo is not “kicked out of the door” like a weak, stray cat. Status quo has to be rallied against, systems have to be put in place to combat it, people have to put in work. Status quo will remain the “status quo” if people are too lazy to stick around for the entire fight."

We attack those who are fighting the good fight at our own peril.
Then we will stand back, point fingers, scratch our ass,
and try to figure out what happened. What we won't do is look in the mirror
at the part many of us played, or failed to.

51. Well, I have read most of the bill that is available for reading
I have tried to keep up with changes as they are reported. I didn't like the blended bill before they started tinkering but would have, probably, supported it with reservations as being fixable. What I know is the parts I thought gave us something to build on were taken out. Did just today find out about a little bombshell called flexible design which means the insurance companies can put together some pretty shabby policies that will still cost more than a lot of people can afford. Do I know everything in the bill? No. But I know most of it and any additional information that has trickled out over the past week or so has made it worse.

I'm not sure it's hateful to have an opposing opinion and try to let people know if I see a serious problem developing.

57. I am going to go line by line in through it tomorrow

It may be better than advertised.

Anybody who automatically rejects Ezra Klien, Bernie Saunders and Feingold better have a lot of very specific reasons to do so.

I wish Krugman would get specific and give a detailed analysis of it rather than a broad general statement.

A lot of very trusted names are lining up for it.

75. I've been reading it tonight
It's 2074 pages so I won't get all of it read at once.

77. Don't forget to color inside the lines.....
I think it might be better than the hysterics here want to believe.

I also there will be a SECOND move on the part of the WH and the Dems to make a change in Medicare with reconciliation -

IN fact, I believe it. Just makes too much sense.

72. reading it wouldn't do any good for me
I've tried reading legislative language and it means very little to me.

Same goes for scientific literature, and I have a science background from college.

I need to rely on journalistic accounts in order to understand these things.
