President Bush Meets with Australian Prime Minister

<snip>

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, I told the Prime Minister there are no war plans on my desk. I haven't changed my opinion about Saddam Hussein, however. He is -- this is a person who gassed his own people, and possesses weapons of mass destruction. And so as I told the American people, and I told John, we'll use all tools at our disposal to deal with him. And, of course, before there is any action -- military action, I would closely consult with our close friend. There are no plans on my desk right now.

An NPR Interview with President Bush
NPR.org, January 30, 2007

<snip>

"I have no intent upon going into Iran," President Bush said during a half-hour interview with NPR Senior Correspondent Juan Williams, then added: "If Iran escalates its military action in Iraq to the detriment of our troops — and/or innocent Iraqi people — we will respond firmly."

...

On concerns that past problems with intelligence will affect U.S. efforts to thwart Iranian nuclear ambitions, the president said this:

"Look, I'm like a lot of Americans who say, 'Well, if it wasn't right in Iraq, how do you know it's right in Iran?' So we're constantly evaluating and answering this legitimate question, by always working to get as good intelligence as we can."

1. Well, there's the difference right there - re: Iran, "nothing is off the table."
This time: all hat, no cattle.

6. Technically didn't lie
The war plans were probably down the hall and not *on his desk*.

9. Obviously the lack of a plan (on his desk or otherwise) didn't stop him
from going in, full speed ahead.

Plan...I don't need no stinkin' plan. :nuke:
