.... the east coast blizzard MIGHT KEEP PEOPLE AWAY FROM THEIR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING !!!

That's been the focus of no less than 3 CNN segments.

I rarely watch CNN or any MSM news channel, and I swear every time I do, it's like that scene in Poltergeist, after the little girl has been sucked into the TV, where the mom opens the door to the children's room hoping things have returned to normal, and all she sees are haunted flying toys and ghouls.

:argh:

1. I know. You wonder how they stay in business. Guess people will pay for cable
and watch about 10% of the crap that is piped into their homes.

6. From what I can tell, cable seems to be a dying animal
I don't have statistics, just personal experience.

I called to cancel my cable service, and they talked me into keeping it for another six months at half the price. After I got off the phone I realized I still didn't want it, so I called and canceled the next day.

Almost every time I tell that story to someone, they respond by telling me they canceled their cable a long time ago. Just about everyone I know relies on Netflix, DVDs, and online streaming video for their entertainment.

When I mentioned this to another student at the college I attend - unaware at first that her boyfriend works for the local cable company - she said, "That's going to change real quickly." I asked how, and she didn't have an answer. Just wishful thinking, apparently. Most people seem to have figured out that cable TV is terribly overpriced.

5. The local blow dried bobbleheads in New England
used to do the same thing whenever we'd get clobbered in the two weeks before the great day.

Hey, guys, when you've just redug the car out after the third time the plow has come by and reburied it, you are not going to be particularly concerned with how much money corporate retailers are going to lose.

Just a hint, guys, but you're making a lot of people hate your guts with that particular nonstory.

8. The next crisis is developing right now
No less than three NFL games are in jeopardy this weekend, because the teams involved can't get to the stadiums on the East Coast.

I can't wait to see what happens as a result.

:woohoo:
