Voices I Can't Stand To Listen To
I like the sound of the human voice in its many variations but there are some I can't bear to hear and turn the channel every time they are speaking. Some of my least favs...

Ben Nelson's weak little voice. Funny that such a hard nose would have such lack of timbre

LIEberman's whiny drawl

Susan Collins

Mika's debutante drawl

George Bush

32. If anyone was lying cheating and bait and switch...it was George w bush The Little.
Bush still sounds like he is in a Bar...and looped too. He wrought much damage to America...lost many troops and over spent by 4 trillion

Blindly supported by the GOP...he went on to gravely wound the Party with inept, unwise fuckup decisions...did nothing to improve us in 8 years

You'll get no argument about Bush. He was another corporate tool.

I don't think he wounded his party in the way that Obama is, however. Bush drove off the center. They're fickle and many will wander back in a short while. Obama is driving off his base. I'm sure the DLC loves that, but I suspect it's going to prove more crippling in the long term.

This thread seems like a sad little attempt to have a two-minute's hate and rally the troops.

30. As someone whose voice got made fun of a lot, this rubs me the wrong way...
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 11:51 AM by lightningandsnow
People used to make fun of me in middle/high school and say I sounded like a donkey. I have non-verbal learning disorder, so I couldn't modulate my voice like neurotypical people do until I was about 15.

35. The people in question are politicians who speak publicly for a living, unlike most of the rest of us
But what is really aggravating is that they are also lying hypocrites with cold shriveled hearts. If they were nice people I don't think our side would take the time to mock them.

Try not to take this personally, if at all possible.

I'm glad you were finally able to learn how to modulate your voice. Did it take speech therapy, or just self-awareness?

Hekate

Part of it was it just kind of....happened.

And I totally get what you're saying. I just have kind of a visceral reaction to posts mocking people for things like their appearance, the sound of their voice, their mannerisms, or other things people generally can't help.

37. No Offense Intended
Listening to the arrogance of Ben Nelson earlier as he stated his demands, it so totally grated and I started thinking of others of them that get on my nerves. It would be so much better if we heard less from many of them but yet they all scramble to get their voices heard and their faces seen.

47. I will never forget the experience of flipping through channels once in a hotel room,
unfamiliar with which channels were on which number, and coming across a show with someone who looked like Nancy Grace--flared nostrils and all--talking stridently about something or other, and thinking "OMG, this must be an old SNL rerun on Comedy Central. Whoever's doing Nancy Grace is perfect, with that annoying voice and attitude, and the makeup and hair people got her hair and the flared nostrils and everything just right. It is too funny."

But there was no laughter in the background, and the "sketch" just kept dragging on and on.

And then I noticed the bug in the screen corner, and realized the channel I was tuned to was CNN, and it was the real Nancy Grace.
