Cowering at the mear mention of the word "filibuster" is stupid. Make that ass hole stand there and talk for hours on end. Make him speak untill his mouth is dry, and his feet fall off. Make him close down the entire process because, as you say, HCR is the most important issue facing us. What is the worst that could happen you won't get to vote on giving billions more to the MIC and you might have to bring the troops home? what a shame that would be.

CALL HIS BLUFF. Make him do it you spineless P.O.S.

This shit is lame.

1. I've been saying that, too.
Great idea. Call his bluff and then everybody show up (must have a quorum) until the cows come home.

3. I couldn't agree more.
Let those who want to stand in the way of meaningful HCR suffer the political consequences. That will never happen if meaningful HCR never comes to a vote.

4. He wouldn't have to stand there and do anything. In fact, he could leave town.
The people who want to filibuster just need ONE member to be in the Senate at all times to maintain the filibuster. They could just alternate between 10 Republicans so they could get some sleep (or all 40). Lieberman wouldn't have to be there at all.

13. You can't "make them all do it." They can choose which one of the 41 they want to be on the floor.

Lieberman could literally go to Bermuda for a vacation. He wouldn't have to stand with the Republicans at all.

United States of America. Count our blessings.

We should remind the world that he acts like he has the deepest corporate pockets in town, but he's not number one - that must be why he tries so hard. Is his goal to rise to number one lobbyist based on $$$$$$. His pockets are equivalent to shipping containers. I cannot see myself ever labeling him a decent man. I wonder what numbers make up his goal. He's doing it for his children?

So repulsive. A cur. His words have become more empty than those that come out of Orrin Hatch's mouth.

I wish President Obama would read what we think of his mentor.

We're in a mess. We're in a civil war. Baron-corporatists facilitated by elected officials and the relentless media and military and religions pushers.

10. Obama wants the bill passed before Christmas.
Forcing a filibuster would delay the vote indefinitely; hence, no filibuster.

11. Americans are no longer patient
I agree. Democrats need to force Lieberman's hand and stand up for "we the people" for a change. Ever since Obama took the oath of office he has been smooth talking but instead of change it has been endless capitulation to the right, to the rich and bankers and corporate America. Everything he said about bringing change is instead about same ole same ole. When he put Rahm Emanuel in charge as Chief of Staff it was confirmation and a warning shot across the bow that it would be a government for Wall St and not a government for Americans.

Rahm Emanuel says Obama doesn't have to worry about the base and left. I think he will be proven wrong and way off base as Americans are becoming far less patient of a government that does not work for them.
