Do you want to see what a government run health exchange would look like? Try this.

Some folks don't think that it would be a good idea for the OPM to be the gatekeeper for medical plans.

Below find the OPM link for federal employees to find out what plans have been approved in their neighborhood

http://www.opm.gov/insure/health/search/plansearch.aspx

go to the link and keep clicking through and you will see exactly what kind of plans OPM approves for federal employees.

You will see what federal employees in your zip code are getting.

You can see what you might be able to get if OPM is in charge of standardizing the plans and see why I think it is a good idea for OPM to be in charge.

I link you decide

1. It's just that the Lieberman Forced Insurance act has those mandates.
The exchange is good, there are other good tidbits in it too. But....we will forever be tied to buying crap from corporations who would rather see you die than to give up the smallest percent of their enormous precious profits.

Once the public option was removed, all options were removed and America will forever be at the mercy of insurance corporations.

Bow down to your new corporate masters, same as the old corporate masters.

2. Those issues are discussed elsewhere
This OP is narrowly focused on a single point - is the OPM equipped to administer a health exchange and what would it look like.

The substance of the plans is an excellent matter for other threads.

5. Excuse me, I thought this was a discussion of the current bill - not an imaginary one.
I will avoid posting the facts on your OP.

6. If you want real facts about what is in the bill then you can go to the front page
and click on this one where a very factual based discussion is taking place:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7264604

This thread has to do with one very technical point.

Does the OPM do a good job as a plan administrator.

I don't think many people have an opinion on that so I have provided a link to the OPM site.

Did you click through and find out what federal employees in your zip code are paying for their plans and what kind of coverage they are getting?

If you want to discuss facts relating to OPM and its ability to serve as a plan administrator I would be interested in them.

In the meantime I hope that you will continue to post completely irrelevent observations so that you can keep kicking this very dry and non controversial OP to the top so that anybody who has a question about what the OPM is and what it does might click on it and learn a little.

I will ensure this is may last ever post on any of "your" OPs.

Yes, I inadvertently kicked your OP. At the time I thought it was informative and interesting. I had nothing more to add to your specific subject and no one, not one single person, had posted so I posted what I could in the hopes of kicking it.

I made a mistake by assuming this was posted by someone who was thoughtful and considerate. I made the mistake of thinking that any comment was better than letting the information sink away. It is a very dry subject, perhaps a little outrage would invite more postings. But, I have learned my lesson. You would rather reprimand me, like a child, then graciously accept my help.

Thanks, I've been sufficiently brow beaten to ensure this will be my last post on any of "your" OPs. It seems you not only want to start threads but also be in absolute control of everything posted under them.

You know, there is a another political party that better suits your authoritarian style. It starts with an R.

8. OPM definitely does a good job with the FEHBP
I didn't need your link for that. I already know what OPM does. My question is whether they could handle managing the health insurance exchange in addition to what they already do with the FEHBP. I am not saying that it couldn't be done, but if it were possible OPM would have to hire a large number of employees for the purpose.

One other issue is that OPM has already indicated that it could not handle running both programs. John Berry has already said this.
