At least the really important things like feeding the banks and the MIC are still getting done.

House lawmakers approved a $636 billion bill to fund the Pentagon through the remaining 10 months of fiscal 2010, completing the last piece of must-pass spending business that had to be finished before the end of the year.
The House vote was 395-34.
The legislation includes several short-term extensions of federal government programs, setting up another round of tough issues for lawmakers to deal with in February.
These include a temporary continuation of increased payments to doctors who treat Medicare patients, federal jobless benefits and federal subsidies to help pay for the costs of health care for people who lost medical insurance when laid off.
It also extends the federal highway program for two months.
Republicans accused the Democratic majority of holding up the must-pass bill so they could use it to attach a number of extraneous measures to in the waning days of the year.
"There is something especially outrageous and callous about the willingness of the majority party leadership to allow the Defense Department bill in a time of war to be held hostage to totally unrelated legislative items," Rep. Jerry Lewis (R., Calif.), the senior Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, said Wednesday.
The bill is the first of four major pieces of legislation House lawmakers plan to cast votes on Wednesday, in an attempt to clear the decks so they can leave town for the holiday recess.
