Let's establish some goals for our next republican President.
Since everybody here at DU hates Obama and the spineless Dems, let's get ahead of the curve and establish some goals for the upcoming republican administration.

Just for the sake of planning, let's figure President Mitt Romney and VP Charlie Crist.

OK, I'll get the party started. Here's what we want!

1. REAL health care - not this phony stuff the Democrats are trying to foist on us!

2. Repair the tarnished image of the US overseas. Obama has done NOTHING!

3. REALLY invest in our crumbling infrastructure. These 2,500 highway projects under Obama are a DISGRACE!

4. Get these crooked Wall Street bankers and corporate crooks under control. Obama's meaningless efforts are worse than nothing. We can count on the "strong" republicans to play bad cop with these rotten corporations, like they always do.

5. REAL economic recovery - the kind that only TAX CUTS for the wealthy can create. "A rising tide raises all boats!"

6. STOP ALL WARS! The republicans are the new Party of Peace. Obama is a rotten warmonger!!

7. REAL environmental protection! Those 2 million wilderness acres that Obama has protected are NOTHING compared to what a good tree-hugging republican would do. No wonder Ralph Nader and the Greens love the republicans so much.

Let's hear your ideas. Never too soon to start planning for the future.

6. The next Republican president will reverse Obama's principled stand against spying and surveillance
Errr. Wait a minute. He won't have to do that...

11. I'd like to see Romney put Newt Gingrich on that project.
Those corrupt attorneys will be history!

10. The Next Republican Disaster will mean the End of America as we know it.
28 years of massive economic and societal damage cannot afford more error, joblessness and tax cuts for the wealthy.

12. The people we put in power aren't listening to us
and of course we know that the Republicans, who will inherit the momentum of the populist backlash against the health insurance mandate and the Wall Street/Big bank bailout, have no reason to even pretend to do so. Essentially, our chance at a future has already been lost.

13. The truth is...
There probably isn't much difference between a republican or democrat administration. They're all forced into very center-right positions or they just plain can't get anything done.

14. That's absolutely correct.

The two major parties in the US occupy a fairly narrow range within the political spectrum.

That's what makes it ABSOLUTELY ABSURD WHEN right-wing loons screech "communism, socialism, blah, blah, blah."

The DIFFERENCE is the DIRECTION the parties want to go.

Democrats want to move the country gradually to a more social democracy direction.

Republicans want to move the country to more of a fascist dictatorship direction and seem to be in a big, big hurry.

Utopians WANT IT ALL NOW and, throughout history, have destroyed liberal coalitions.
