How did Sen Whitehouse "find" the contact list from the Clinton admin for the hearing Thursday?
In a premise to a question for Gonzales, Senator Whitehouse said he had found correspondence in the files of the Senate Judiciary Committee from the days when Orrin Hatch was chairman relating to an investigation of the relationship between the Clinton White House and the Justice Department (under Attorney General Janet Reno). Hatch was concerned about the independence of the Department of Justice, so he wanted to know who in the White House could speak with whom in the Justice Department.

So, Hatch, the only Senator to support Gonzo without question was all pissed off at the Clinton White House and made them prove there was not any hanky panky between Clinton's staff and Reno's staff and found out only 4 of Clinton's WH could talk to 3 in Reno's DOJ but doesn't care that 417 in Bush's admin can talk to over 30 in Gonzo's DOJ.

The hypocracy is breathtaking.

Hatch is clearly one of those conservatives without conscience Dean talks about in his book. They just don't care if they are hypocrites.

What is WRONG with these people???????

1. Their political ideology....
trumps their patriotism every time. They'd sell this country out in a minute (and have) as long as "conservative values" (world's largest oxymoron) are advanced. It's always party above country for them.

4. Not their ideology but their psychology.

They have psychological needs that allow them to ignore their own hypocrisy. The book above is from the guy who supplied John Dean with a lot of his research.

6. Wow. Thanks!
This should be extremely interesting.

Although I already know most of what is going to be said. Anyone who hangs with John Dean gets big creds.

7. Have you posted this link on DU?
If you haven't, I will!

I'm only on page 10, and this is really going to be good stuff.

10. I've posted it by itself and...
into various threads for a month or so; wherever it adds to the conversation. You're welcome to add it in wherever you see a spot. The information is both comforting and scary; it has more to do with black and white thinking than ideology but they don't respond much to logical thought.
It explains why David Horowitz went from being a Stalinist to being an extreme RWer. The way far left stopped providing him with positive feedback for black and white thinking, so he switched to the fascists. He gets to be absolutely sure (although clueless about everything) at the top of his lungs and it pays better, too.

9. These people are psychologically defective
There can be no question that this is a full-blown and very dangerous personality disorder.

Big props for the wonderful link, Cassandra!

11. Unfortunately, they are a dependable 29% or so...
of the population, which wouldn't be as much of a problem if they weren't running the country. Something happened to these people in childhood (not necessarily different from anyone else) but they responded by looking for absolute certainty to keep themselves safe. Since there's no such thing as absolute certainty in life, they get more and more extreme.

2. The bigger question is where did he find out not what Clinton did but
what Bush's WH did?

Where did he find out that 417 WH people talked to 30 staffers in the DoJ?

3. Probably from the other evidence that they've been...
compiling. He probably had his staff go through and add up every name.
