U.S. News & World Report Opinion: "Rove's Fingerprints and the Gonzales Fiasco"
Nothing particularly new here, but interesting to see it in U.S. News & World Report.

Rove's Fingerprints and the Gonzales Fiasco

In the pitiful performance by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in an attempt to save his job, the undercurrent of Karl Rove's role is obvious. Rove has been behind about every act of political chicanery in President Bush's tenure and while Bush was governor of Texas.

How else can you explain Rove's missing E-mails that you can bet were incriminating to his part in the firings of eight federal prosecutors? Rove's fingerprints are all over this sorry episode. He has orchestrated attacks on Democrats opposed to the war in Iraq. His message seems to be: Don't say they are unpatriotic but give strong hints of it. He has made no secret of his master plan tokeep the GOP majority in placewith whatever it takes.

That scheme took a nose dive last November, and this war could shatter Rove's dream for a long time.

- snip -

Where was Rove in all this? I have my suspicions.

4. Yes, it is very interesting that US News and World Report printed it
the author John W. Mashek

John W. Mashek covered politics in Washington for four decades with U.S. News & World Report, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and the Boston Globe. His primary beats were Congress, the White House, and national politics. He covered every presidential election from 1960 to 1996. He was a panelist in three televised presidential debates in 1984, 1988, and 1992. In retirement, he is teaching part time at the Medill School's graduate program in Washington.

5. The Corporate Media Is Scared Shit Of Rove
He must have a dossier that makes Hoover's look tame. The big elephant in that hearing was if Gonzo couldn't recall making decisions and defered that things were done in the Executive...then who? Do we really have to ask? The evidence is everywhere...so are the red flags. It wouldn't take a corporate stenographer much more than to scan a few blogs...like Talking Points Memo...make a few calls and we'd get the answer. But the corporate media is scared shit of the power of Rove...the man who controls all access and can intimidate his opponents in a way Michael Corleone would marvel at.

Gonzo's taking the heat...like Libby did...cause Rove is boooshie's brain. He's what holds that criminal enterprise together and booshie and others believe that without Rove everything falls apart. Even Gonzo knows it...openly perjuring himself...and why Monica Goodling still is balking at taking an immunity deal. This regime will go to the mat to keep this game going for as long as possible...hoping their skewed court and justice system is sufficiently stacked to let them get away into the night.

6. Karl Rove will likely keep his job until Bush leaves office OR is impeached.

OR he will lose his job when Bush and Cheney lose theirs!

7. Why doesn't the MSM ever mention that KKKarl was fired by
Bush 41's for dirty campaign tricks back in the early 90s? Rove was too disgusting even for Poppy Bush, a person not exactly know for his upstanding ethics and honor - a family that lies, cheats, steals, and cavorts with the Nazis, etc., yadda, yadda, yadda.

Ya know a person is snail slime if he is too dirty for GHWB. Although KKKarl is just perfect for Chucklenuts.

When our long national nightmare is over I would support any candidate that would favor purging all signs of the Bush Family Era from our memories. Kind of like a Russian purge of dissents, etc. No photos, no mention, no records kept (that one be the one homage to the Bushies - lose their place in history a lot like they have lost military records, emails, video tapes). Just like they never existed. In the words of a really dumb ass - "Poof gone."
