Bullys and Shootings and Baldwin, oh my!
I have been in and out the last week for personal reasons, moving, etc. Checking in here and there I am amazed at it all.

#1 - Baldwin thing: If this had been a repug spouting this we would be all over it like (disappearing honey bees) bees to honey. I don't care what side of the spectrum ya fall on, wrong is wrong. You want to chastise your kid, ya can do it without calling them names or sounding downright hateful. That's part of being an adult.

#2 - Shootings: Some crazy ass dude shot and killed a bunch of people. Welcome to my side of town - without the numbers during one event. The guns are not the problem, more and more people own them but there are a select few who use them to do harm to others. We have 300 million people in this country, bound to be a few whack jobs that use guns and kill a lot of people. How do we stop it? Not by limiting the folks who are law abiding but by limiting the people with mental problems from having weapons. If the NRA does not like that, than fuck em - gun control is not a bad thing, but it can be if we go crazy on it. Most people are responsible with their guns, cars, propane tanks, etc and so on - the few that are not are the issues. Those are the ones we need to examine when passing new laws.

#3 - Bullying: See #1. When you start calling your own kid names instead of trying to have a rational discussion on the issues you lose, and so does the person you are addressing. We have all seen that here actually, where people don't address what your saying but attack you personally (or for something you said in the past). It's cowardice because you cannot discuss the item at hand, so resort to personal attacks.

Overall - the few cranks in our society should not dictate how the rest of us live. You will always have a small percentage that abuse things and end up making the many look bad. It reminds me of the buzz by the right after 9/11 and Muslims. A few bad apples and they wanted to throw the rest away and blame em all. Same with Christians - many do wonderful things for the poor and their neighbors, but some just do sucky things. Many people own guns, but the few that abuse them taint the many that use them.

Some liberals do dumb things. Most don't. I don't have a problem calling out those who do the stupid things because I can see beyond that, just like I can gun owners, Islamic folks, and Christian folk. You just accept that some, statistically speaking, will screw up.

The rw though, screws up more, which is why we are all liberals :) We have the right mindset, the right desires, but there will always be some on our side of the fence that make mistakes. It does not make our side wrong, cause we aren't, it just makes some on our side wrong. Compare that to the many on the other side that are nearly always wrong.
