Tiger: A Few Thoughts
I have ALWAYS considered them to be one of the most beautiful animals on the planet. I have been fascinated with them since I was a kid, and hey, who among us doesn't love Tigger and Hobbes? Or for you fans of sugar cereals... Tony, one of the grrrrrreat ad icons of our youth. :D

Check out the paws on this beauty!

It's a goddamned outrage that poachers are causing the endangerment of these amazing creatures. :grr: I urge people to get involved with various wildlife funds and wild animal protection agencies to help protect the incredible tiger.

2. Tigger & Hobbes don't do much for me...
Edited on Tue Dec-08-09 02:39 PM by SpiralHawk
...but Tony definitely had my number when I was a sweets-saturated lad, a mere dupe of the sugar-corporate complex...

7. I love tigers! How can you not love such beauty?

I usta have this horrible dream of a tiger escaping during family reunions (always held at a major metropolitan zoo/park) and then gobbling me up. A very large snake did escape once. It didn't gobble me up.

13. There was a guy on LI who owned
a tiger which he used to take around to malls and stuff and charge people $5 to have their picture taken with it. The poor tiger was basically chained to a platform. It was horrible. But I still HAD to have my picture taken - I had to pet that tiger. That and scuba diver are the two most incredible experiences I've ever had in my life.

15. EYE of the TIGER....
:bounce:

http://www.mikethetiger.com/

The new environment created for Mike is over 15,000 square feet in size with lush planting, a large Live Oak tree, a beautiful waterfall and a stream evolving from a rocky backdrop overflowing with plants and trees. The habitat has, as a backdrop, an Italianate tower, a campanile, that creates a visual bridge to the Italianate architectural vernacular that is the underpinning of the image of the entire beautiful LSU campus. This spectacular new habitat features state-of-the-art technologies, research, conservation and husbandry programs. It is, in essence, one of the largest and finest Tiger habitats in the United States.

....when I first clicked on this thread I thought it was about Tiger Woods. :o

17. LOVE
the amur tiger is my absolute favorite animal, they are the northernmost living subspecies of tiger. Currently about 450 amur tigers exist in the wild today due to poaching a and the building of roads into their territory. Although the numbers are up from the 30s when there were about 20-50 tigers in the wild they continue to be killed off and have a very low genetic diversity. The south china tiger has only a few remaining individuals in the wild today and will probably become extinct within our lifetime. The Phoenix fund and world wildlife fund are great ways to get involved in the conservation of these amazing hunters. The Amur tiger is the worlds largest cat, bigger than lions which many people believe to be the largest and unlike what many people think, tigers live only in Asia and surrounding islands, not Africa. Getting rid of poaching, although nearly impossible despite Russian law enforcement and conservation efforts, would help the tigers most of all because nearly every part of a tigers body is used in traditional Chinese medicine.
