Salvation Army bell ringer spouting off about Obama in a loud voice.
As I was leaving the grocery store, the bell ringer had some woman cornered and in a loud voice said, "You know what Obama's doin' over there in Copenhagen? He's over there right now making the New World Order." As I pushed the cart toward the van I caught something about "socialized medicine". I'm sure he's going to attract a lot of people to donate with that kind of behavior.

If I didn't have frozen foods in the cart, I might have taken a moment to laugh in his face. Unfortunately, I know myself too well and that laugh would probably turn into a half-hour counter rant. The frozen items made it home and into the freezer safely.

11. The finer local ones are 100% volunteer and all money raised gets to work without any overhead skim

2. I'd write/call your local Salvation Army and ask if that kind of behavior is approved by the SA. nt

6. I thought about it, but they're having enough trouble just GETTING people.
I suppose they have to settle for what shows up.

8. I'm sure they'd rather have one fewer ringer than have their name linked to that garbage.
Or perhaps they wouldn't, and that would be worth knowing.

15. I'm sort of torn on the matter.
I'll talk it over with my wife and see what she thinks. It has been a tough year for all of the charities, and like S.A. or not, they are in the same boat.

3. My stepfather suggested I volunteer as a Salvation Army bell ringer
He read an article and knows about how I do like to volunteer. He's not very up on what's kosher and not kosher when it comes to liberals but he's not some right-wing nut job either. I know he meant well when he suggested it.

I told him I won't give a dime to Salvation Army simply because of their discrimination towards minorities and GLBT. I also told him perhaps the reason Salvation Army is hurting is because of these policies because most progressives/democrats would not donate to Salvation Army.

5. I wonder if a call to the Salvation Army about that bell ringer would be in order?
Seems like something they wouldn't want the bell ringers to be doing.

7. You should call your local SA
I doubt they want some nutjob spouting off political views. It could be detrimental to what they're trying to do.

10. I'd call the grocery store and tell them you won't shop there again until that bell-ringer is gone!!

If it hurts their bottom line, they'll do something about it. Also tell them you are telling all your friends.

13. Please call the Salvation Army with this. They are NOT allowed to do this.
Bell ringers are NOT allowed to use the Salvation Army to spout anything other than "Merry Christmas, Thank you, etc"

Don't let this person get away with this bullshit.

14. The lost me when
they made kids show birth certificates to get toys. How heartless can you be. I rent chairs from them each year for Thanksgiving. I still need the chairs but I always let them take the change usually a couple of dollars for their charity. But no more. They get the exact change.
