"Reid will apologize."
In a floor statement at about 5:30 p.m., the Arizona Republican joined the RNC's Michael Steele in calling for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to apologize for comparing foes of health care reform to pro-slavery segregationists.

McCain's apology demand seemed to the do the trick when Joe Wilson heckled President Obama -- but the majority leaders seems disinclined -- at the moment -- to comply.

UPDATE: Reid spox Rodell Mollineau head-fakes me with the subject line of an email: "Reid will apologize."

Then the body text: "When Senator McCain stops his obstruction and produces a comprehensive health care plan. Oh wait he has..and it cut Medicare by billions."

2. I heard it today, Reid was talking about the tactics employed by the defilers of American progress
There is nothing to apologize for today or any other; for uncovering corrosive, pugnacious hissy-pissy-ass republican *behavior* that has the same effect

4. It's a good fake
After all, Politico is as accustomed to seeing Democrats cave as anyone. So, will Politico billboard Reid's charge against McCain with the same fervor as they would have flogged a Reid apology? I'm guessing "no."

5. All of this grandstanding..
.. over a bill that doesn't include a meaningful public option is so much piss down a drain.

Who gives a shit, no public WITHOUT TRIGGERS OR CO-OPS, and this bill is so much toilet paper.

11. I'm not saying it's right or it's wrong.
But it's these kind of comments that cheapen the meaning of "racism," "sexism," etc. If we hadn't used these kinds of statements willy nilly in the past as a political tool of convenience, they might still mean something to the average American.

Another example: how many times in a typical year do we hear one side or the other called "Nazis?" The word means nothing anymore.
