The usual suspects-Kent Conrad (D)ickhead ND. Whining about opening Medicare
Edited on Mon Dec-07-09 09:43 PM by laughingliberal
t's a Congressional paradox: The closer negotiators get to a deal, the rougher and more personal the rhetoric becomes. By that measure, Senate Democrats are getting awfully close to some type of health care agreement.

On Monday, Sen. Jay Rockefeller called into question whether his colleague Kent Conrad has the best interest of the nation at heart, charging that for the North Dakota Democrat, "it's always about North Dakota and it's never about any other part of the country."

Earlier in the day, Conrad had said that when it comes to a plan allowing people younger than 65 to buy in to Medicare, he has "many of the same problems I had with previous variations of the public option, which is that then ties you to Medicare levels of reimbursement for a whole new population. For states like mine, that's a big problem." <snip>

<snip> "That's fine," said Rockefeller. "He probably ties it to everything he talks about. I mean, I'm really very tired of hearing about that from him. And it's always about North Dakota and it's never about any other part of the country. And I thought that, you know, that's what we were trying to do, we were trying to do the best thing for the country."

God bless Senator Rockerfeller for opening fire on him. This jackass has been obnoxious all the way through. Part of the gang of six thugs, dontchaknow.

1. North Dakota, pop. 633,000, or 9 white people per square mile
The Bronx has twice as many inhabitants.

Great system of government we have. You go, founders.

2. There certainly is a paradox inherent in the concept that a state with fewer people
than live in my county, can have an elected official in the federal govt that can hold up progress for the entire nation!!

5. He was a total ass about this during the gang of six thugs meetings
What the hell is the deal with ND's hospitals can't survive on Medicare rates? Then, perhaps, they need to look at how they do business. Is it they can't survive or their profit margins wouldn't satisfy them?

What a fucking whiner, he is.

6. For some reason Medicare payments are lowed here in ND than other states.
Why doesn't fix that? He is in a position to do so.

7. Now, there's a thought. Duh! Is there no one who can get that done in exchange for his damn vote?
Or is it a convenient excuse that gives him political cover while he shills for the insurance companies?

9. Are you sure that is Medicare and not Medicaid.?

Medicaid is partially state funded.

Medicare is a national health insurance program for individuals 65 or older or permanently disabled. To enroll contact your local Social Security office, call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213, or visit online www.ssa.gov. You can also contact Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE or http://www.medicare.gov.

Medicare is an entitlement program paid through your Social Security taxes. It is not a welfare program. This means that your personal income and assets are not considered in determining your eligibility and benefits. It is very similar to a private insurance company in that Medicare will pay a portion of the cost of certain medical expenses while you, as the patient, assume any costs related to deductibles and co-payments.

3. We have several Indian reservations here.
5.6% of our population are Indian. Only 90% of us are white.
In 2008 we had 641,481 people total. Counting everyone, we do have 9 people per sq mile.

Conrad has been bought and paid for, just like a good little republican. He really does need to change parties. He is doing no one any good, except for the health insurance companies.
