"The proliferation of underemployed could represent a profound reordering of the employment structure. Many people who had comfortable full-time jobs with benefits and advancement opportunities now are cobbling together smaller jobs often at lower pay, in a shift that economists say could become permanent for many individuals stuck in the cycle. Underemployment, along with unemployment, is widely seen as a force slowing the economic recovery.
Mr. Crane no longer sees his new life as temporary. He no longer dreams of going and fixing equipment at the factory and operating big machines.
"My new goal is to become a manager at Lowe's," he says. "That will pay $17 an hour. I'm hoping this happens in the next couple of years, by the time my son is in high school." "

According to this article we are supposed to be a nation full of people who barely scrape by at 3 jobs. One being Taco Bell, one being McDonalds, and the other being the gas station.
So WTF was the conclusion of the jobs summit? That the "private sector" is supposed to fix this? Did McCain/Palin win the election? The private sector are the ones screwing us folks. They are the ones sending REAL jobs out of the country, lowering wages, cutting benefits, and getting rid of any job that isn't "service sector". So are we supposed to be a nation that operates by selling Cheeseburgers to each other?
When I heard the jobs summit message was "the private sector needs to fix it" that basically tells me our leaders are telling us "we're shit out of ideas. We've got nothing."
This is unacceptable. Has anyone noticed the MSM is now telling us that "Oh it's going to be a few years before the job situation improves" like we are just supposed to accept that? Hell with that. Congress needs to be on the ball NOW passing legislation NOW to put the screws to the "private sector". There should not be ANY work visas being handed out to ANYONE. Any company that is OUTSOURCING needs to be TAXED to hell. Any executive that is cutting jobs while not cutting his own million dollar pay needs to be TAXED to hell.
This all needs to be done by ACT OF CONGRESS. And it needs to be done NOW before the democrats fu** up further and lose the congress to the republicans next year and then we have ZERO chance of turning this around.
Are we really just going to accept this?
It's gonna be a fun next decade.
