ChaCha is hiring for the first time in a year

In case anyone here is unemployed and needs a little grocery money, you can answer questions from dippy kids and people needing directions and such for ChaCha. They seldom hire and they'll probably only have this up for today:

https://guideregistration.chacha.com/

You get a debit card and can deposit your earnings whenever you want into it. The pay sucks but it'll keep you in food. I do it part time to support my animal rescue and it's all from your home PC - you do need a high speed internet connection, though.

Just an FYI. I don't make any money from you for posting this.

Forgot to mention: you have to pass a series of tests before you can start. They're fairly easy, though - reading comprehension and typing.

3. It depends on the job you do for them
First of all, it's an independent contractor position so minimum wage rules fly out the window.

I do voice transcriptions and I expedite questions to Guides and I can make five to six dollars per hour. It's not meant to support anyone, but it's handy for gas money and whatnot.

You can get a ChaCha debit card and load it with your earnings at any time, or you can have your earnings deposited directly into your checking account once per month. I have the debit card, and it comes in handy.

10. I applied...and took the test...will let you know the outcome
I am not encouraged because I could not answer the first two answers in their time frame and I missed a third due to time...so 70% best case if I answered the rest correct?

4. It's a text and voice information service
People text in with questions, usually looking for directions, phone numbers, sports trivia and the like. Kids text in to cheat on their homework and ask endless questions about Nick Jonas (you learn a lot about what's "in" with the kids doing this - Lady Gaga is their current favorite).

Guides look up the answers and the system texts the answer back. It's a free service supported by ad revenues, mainly from AT&T.

People can also call with their questions and the answer comes back in a text. I mainly do voice transcriptions of their questions and pass the query on to a Guide.

5. I went and took a look, Seems they manage to have dozens of
pages of information but no details as to how the points and community income pool works.

It does look like fun, but with no seemingly set $$ to be attributed to the points, and no review of the point system (are points based on number of responses, length of response, timeliness, what?). Sounds like they are getting lots of upper management pay while those doing the work are just getting spending money.

If they are legitimate in their pay, it seems they would at least have some type of comments as to the average or better yet the max and min that could be expected to be made based on hours online or requests fielded.

The service seems like a good idea, but the rest seems highly suspect and clearly not a "job".

6. The revenue sharing is new
It's completely optional, and I don't participate in it. I'm going to wait and see what the average revenue sharing pool ends up being. I know the points are compiled by each transaction.

No, it's clearly not a "job". It's for those who need a little extra income and have a few hours a day to devote to it.

8. Yeah, well at this time revenue sharing is all they offer. Perhaps you
are still under some other program with them.

Sorry but it really seems scammish to me.

9. I just checked with them
And yes, the revenue sharing program is what they're hiring new guides for. Until I know exactly what the average pay is going to be for that I can't recommend it. Sorry, I'm surprised they're doing this.

Yes, I'm under a different pay system.

7. If it's "independent contracting," you are screwed out of
state extended unemployment benefits. I myself wouldn't look into this avenue now.
