4. Unsure
I figured #1 was the "everyone leaves today" position so I figured it was better to include both.

6. Any idea how many opium/heroin addicts we have among our
troops in Afghanistan. We've all seen the poppies! What to do about the addicts? Just asking!!!!!

9. How many of our troops in Afghanistan have become addicted to opium or heroin?
Poppies are the major crop over there. How many VietNam vets came home addicted to opium or heroin. Remember?

11. Yes, I get that. It's a good question and one that we should be aware of.
I don't have any information about addiction problems with the troops in Afghanistan or anywhere else for that matter. I will say that the problems ensuing from Vietnam might not be exactly the same with Afghanistan. But worth being watchful, indeed...

13. It's a terrible question
Random drug testing is mandated. There is an extremely minute number of positive tests stateside, as well as in Afghanistan. In the first place, many whom have drug addictions or the propensity to use illegal drugs are screened out prior to enlistment. If not then, the initial training period which usually lasts for about 5-9 months, and then the unit urinalysis testing. This isn't taking into account the extremely different accountability security and leave and liberty procedures post vietnam.

14. THank you for the clarification. I was wondering about the comparison of the two wars.
I remember well the Vietnam conflict's problems, having lived through it as an adult. Glad you responded here so others can see this and not get wrapped around the axle on the issue. Too many other things to worry about...

12. There aren't any heroin addicts
Your question is very telling of your lack of information regarding Afghanistan and our military.
