Tiger Woods - I don't think what happened to him is necessarily a bad thing - for society and more
Here's what I think:

So Tiger Woods is not the "nice" guy we thought. So he's a philanderer, and not even a one-time philanderer, but a HUGE philanderer, cheating on his wife with multiple mistresses for years. Big deal. He's not the only male on the planet whose penis is on fire and feels he simply has to be shtooping every plasticized, collagen-filled, implant-imbedded female he encounters. In the course of life, we've seen ordinary people get caught cheating. It's not nice, but it's real life. So he's just being one of those guys who see a woman and think only of one thing.

Unfortunately, fame sometimes allows a celebrity to build a false image of himself to the public, and that's what happened with Tiger Woods. We held him up to the image he built, that of someone who would never commit adultery. Now that image is shattered, and I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think false images are bad, awful, and are best shattered. That way we stop adoring falsehoods. That's why I love it every time a "family values" Republican gets caught with his pants down. It gives those Republicans who truly believe in these people, a dose of reality.

As for Tiger Woods, his privacy is history. He will never have privacy again. If he chooses to satisfy his sex drive he'll have to do amazing things to accomplish it, as the media will be on his tail. Is that bad? Not at all. For his wife, it's excellent! It might keep him nice. For his kids, it's excellent, their dad will not be getting some sort of virus or risking their secure family life. For him? Well, it might not feel so nice to him if he's obsessed with cheating.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Tiger Woods said he let his family down with “transgressions” he regrets “with all of my heart,” and that he will deal with his personal life behind closed doors.

His statement Wednesday follows a cover story in Us Weekly magazine that reports a Los Angeles cocktail waitress claims she had a 31-month affair with the world’s No. 1 golfer.

Just because someone is quiet, doesn't mean he's not liable to do anything else anyone else un-quiet might do.

66. When you consider the technology of today...
it's pretty amazing that Woods' handlers were able to keep a relatively squeaky clean image of him for 12 years. 12 frickin' years while he was having reckless affairs with voice mails, text messages, and so forth. He was either very naive or very dumb to leave so many tracks. Probably a combination of both.

Nobody will give a rats ass about this whole incident, or series of incidents or whatever.

Yes, he's probably crapped in his own mess kit as far a the trust of his wife is concerned, but this is between the two of them.

I don't care what hole he puts his weenie in, I'm more interested in the holes he can put a golf ball in.

And if his actions disturbs the fundamentalist filled world of professional tour golfers, then some good has come out of the whole thing.

67. Speaking of which...rumors on the PGA Tour...
Edited on Thu Dec-03-09 04:02 AM by TTUBatfan2008
...apparently it was really well-known by most of the players on the PGA Tour that Tiger is a "chaser" and always has been. A similar rumor exists for his main rival, Phil Mickelson, except with a twist. Phil and his wife Amy are swingers. Phil makes a fuckload of money ($50+ million per year) based on his "family man" image, which the media has gladly built up for him just like they built up a similar image for Woods. Luckily for Phil, the media doesn't give a damn about scrutinizing anyone other than Tiger. I'm sure plenty of other golfers on the Tour are Tom Cats. But they are fortunate to avoid the media scrutiny while reaping the benefits of being a co-worker of Woods. Purses on Tour have quadrupled since he turned pro, and inflation isn't the reason for that if you catch my drift. Mickelson has outright thanked Woods in the media for allowing him to ride his coattails. Tiger is a scumbag but it's pretty sad to look at the way the media works and how he's being used by the PGA Tour. That includes the Tour commissioner and all the millionaire golfers who are engaging in similar behavior to Woods.

Are you demented? How can Tiger's adultery and the disrespect and humiliation it caused his wife and kids possibly be a GOOD thing??? His cheating is contemptable and his family has every right to be angry and hurt by it. The last fucking thing they need is for some total stranger who has fuck all to do with it trying to make it out like it's some kind of thing they should be happy about. GAWD!

And you can knock off this "we" nonsense about his image. Seems you're the only one deluded enough to believe a celebrated golfer is some kind of paragon of virtue because he makes barrels of money being really good at hitting a little ball into a little hole with some sticks and does TV commercials.

55. what's this "we" shit?
Anyone who thought he was of squeaky clean character because he's a great golfer is STUPID. It's STUPID people that judge someone's character on something as idiotic as how well they play a game. Anyone who doesn't know him personally has no call to judge his character one way or another. It takes actually KNOWING someone to be able to judge the kind of person they are.

People have put celebrities on undeserved pedestals since time began, and that's not going to change with this incident nor will it change ever. No one is going to learn jack shit from this just like they've never learned whenever any other celebrity has been undeservedly put on a pedistal... this is hardly the first time a celebrity has been found to have feet of clay nor will it be the last, and people will go right on worshiping celebrities as they've always done.

I'm not into golf, but I can recognize that he's the most consistently successful player in the history of the sport, not to mention extremely successful in managing his own career...none of which ever led me to think he was Mr Monogamy or anything. Frankly, I've never heard anyone suggest him as a role model in this area, only that he's a discreet guy rather than someone who loves the spotlight.

I think most world-class athletes, of both genders, can and do sleep with whoever they please.

62. Although I never though he was a nice guy, I pretty much agree, Sarah.
He's been carrying on in the dark like this for years.

The only thing that "happened to him" is someone turned on the lights.

He's no different a man today than he was last week, last month, or last year.

What's changed is how people see him.

There is no video of what went down between Tiger Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren on the night of his accident -- so the Chinese made one up!
