In a recent post by Babylon sister http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7137458 The Dem's are threatening to work through X-Mas to get the Republicans to work on health care instead of obstructing it.

Am I the only one who finds this to be brain numbingly, jaw droopingly outrageous?

Tens of thousands of our citizens die each year from lack of health care and the Republicans don't give a shit.

Tens of thousands of our insured citizens are forced into bankruptcy every year by medical costs and the Republicans don't give a shit.

Our entire workforce is at a major disadvantage competing with workers globally because of the cost of health care when we compete with countries with some form of single payer system and the Republicans don't give a shit.

But...

Threaten them with canceling their X-MAS VACATION and suddenly they might give a shit?

Un fucking believable!

I, on the other hand, would gladly work through X-Mas, just to have a fucking job.

at a surgical practice we will be working. Providing health care for our patients doesn't ever stop and it shouldn't for them either!

a healthcare plan I do not agree with should sign up and pay for it themselves so that I can do what I think is right.

Those who support working through Christmas should sign up and do it themselves so that I can have it off.

6. I always work through Christmas because I'm self employed

and no one's life depends on what I do! Call the freaking whaambulance, the repugs are just too special!

7. I would rather collect unemployment

housing vouchers, food vouchers, and child vouchers, while keeping my public health insurance (which becomes free when out of work) rather than work through a holiday. Of course we have 11 holidays, and 5 weeks paid vacation in the country I moved to....plus national health insurance, and a social saftey net....all things the USA could easily pay for if it wanted to, but it prefers paying for war...
