What if DU was around for Clinton in 1995?
Can you imagine the things Clinton would have been called on here in 1995 after he announced Operation Deliberate Force which escalated military involvement in Bosnia and brought a decisive end to that conflict?

1. And you don't see the difference between two entirely different parts
of the world, do you? Get yourself a map and read up on some history.

2. I didn't support that either, but really there is no comparison
if you think we're going to "finish the job" or bring a "decisive end" to anything in Afghanistan, you are sorely mistaken.

4. You miss my point
I imagine Clinton would have been savaged by most on here for being a "War Pig."

7. And after that
They would have gone after him about NAFTA, and for repealing Glass-Steagall, and for DADT, and for....oh forget it, at least he left the welfare safety net in place.

8. DU would have hated Clinton as much as it hates Obama not only because
of that but also because of NAFTA, Welfare Reform and telecommunications. They would have knocked his health care plan, too, as not going far enough and not being single payer.

9. And they would have been right
Although I'm sure you meant to say DUers would have hated Clinton's ACTIONS, not Clinton himself.

Right?

11. Clinton was better in at least one respect
Nobody bothered to kid themselves that he wasn't lying his ass off... "parse the President" was the national pastime for a while.

The "humanitarian" carpet bombing based on war propaganda that turned out to have little resemblance to the truth would have been - and was - opposed by consistent anti-war groups.

12. Not to mention NAFTA, Welfare "reform", MFN China, financial deregulation
I'd have had some choice words for President Clinton had this site existed at the time. :hi:
