Can we all agree on this fine point?
The Taliban gave refuge. That's it. They didn't plan the hit on us. They just allowed it to happen. Not even as culpable, arguably, as the driver in a bank robbery.

The guys that did this, and the guy that whipped them up were *tada* Saudis.

Now ..... what we *do* about any of this is what the debate's all about.

the previous administrations lack of attention Pakistan is on the border of destablization I think this is part of decision.

7. "They just allowed it to happen"
just exactly 'who' allowed it to happen is very much open to debate, since the US never produced evidence.

9. the taliban was never party to the 9/11 plannning and did not "give refuge"...
...in any active sense-- the Taliban has no international agenda at all, really. By the same token, the U.S. "gave refuge" to the 9/11 attackers, and arguably the U.S. refuge was the more operationally important one. Maybe we should bomb Florida instead.

19. If we don't have the wherewithall to do it for ourselves I would
hope someone in the league of nations would take up our cause. Especially, if doing so would be in their best interest.
