I would like to make a public statement on DU about being wrong.
I have not advocated Impeachment of Bush for the simple reason of the time frame. I was wrong.

Even though I still believe the votes are not their in the Senate to convict, I do believe Impeachment is the only way to get this assholes attention and tie up his staff from doing damage in other areas of our Government. The Hearings on Gonzo yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

And yes I do believe that there is now public support for his Impeachment.

1. I've been on the fence about it, too.
Because of the short amount of time he has left as president. But now I think we have to stop him before he does more damage in his death throes.

2. It takes some people longer to see the light. Me? I thought he should have been impeached
as soon as the truth about him LYING about WMD came to light. More and more people are finally calling for Impeachment. Better late than never.

IMPEACH!

4. I would have impeached early on if we had a Democratic controlled Congress like we do now.
Back then it was futile, I was speaking of when we regained control of Congress again.

10. The WMD thing was it for me also--I couldn't understand why people
accepted that in such a docile, matter-of-fact manner. "Oh well! Guess we might as well keep fighting!" And I am not a dove--I am to the right of the DU spectrum here. Why is there still not enough outrage? Add everything else that's happened, and you start to wonder what it's going to take to rile folks up enough to get rid of these assholes.

3. One of the great ironies
Edited on Fri Apr-20-07 08:51 AM by supernova
to me in this whole thing is, the last president got impeachment proceedings against him because of a frivolous "reason" like a bj and also because the Repubs just wanted to to simply because BC is a Democrat.

Now, we have a president WHO REALLY IS DOING LONG_TERM DAMAGE to the republic and suddenly, everyone has gone all impeachement shy! What's up with that?

It makes me want to :nuke: :banghead: :banghead: :grr: :grr: :argh: :argh:

edit: Thanks for being willing to change your mind, William.

5. You are most welcome, and note that there is nothing at all wrong
....with a slower awakening to the truth by waiting for facts and evidence to reveal itself through educational awareness and patient observation. Congratulations. Impeach Bush/Cheney now!

8. I believe that impeachment is required
never mind conviction or removal, never mind the time left.. if Bush isn't impeached for the lies and coverups and misdeeds, then no one will ever fear impeachment.

Also, I worry that the powers that are behind this mis-administration, facing an almost certain defeat in 2008 (it won't be close enough to steal like before), may yet do something to hold onto power.

11. Impeachment is never wrong.
They need to know they can be fired, and reminded of it regularly.

14. Impeachment
is the only means we've got to send a strong message to this rogue government and anyone who would follow in their footsteps.

A responsible populace must do it's job. It is our duty to ourselves, our children, & our country.
