White House Gatecrashers Shopping Story to Networks
cheney would have had them in gitmo by now, and declared them enemy combatants
-----------------------------

Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the infamous couple who crashed President Barack Obama's state dinner last Tuesday, are shopping their story to the networks and hoping to nab six figures for the interview. An anonymous television executive told the Associated Press that representatives for the Virginia couple have contacted networks urging them to "get their bids in" for an interview. (The couple has since denied the allegations, but since we live in the age of Heidi and Spencer, it's best to take their word with a grain of salt.)

Is it just us, or is this whole scenario wrong on so many levels? For one thing, network news divisions generally don't pay for interviews, although they've been known to pay for exclusive materials like pictures or videos. So it's not going to look good for whichever network ends up doing the interview.

Aside from that, it just seems wrong that anyone who's breached a state dinner, sneaking past the Secret Service and putting the President in harm's way, should be paid for an interview. We realize that national security broke down somewhere along the way, but that doesn't negate the fact that this couple should be in jail or at least slapped with a hefty fine.

1. And they'd better hurry up because nobody will remember them by next week.

2. The entire thing leaves a bad taste
Think about it. There was nothing noble in their actions. If perhaps they endeavored to attend the State Dinner with the goal to perhaps bend the ears of the powerful for an urgent worthy cause or to save somebody in great peril-- then I think it would be a good story. Instead it is about two fame whores looking for a hook in a reality show-- so crass!!! Then attempting to exploit the story for more money to support their ostentatious lifestyle. When people are starving and barely getting by, the actions of this couple is quite base.

Honestly, I have a patient who doesn't even have the copay ($3.00) for a medication he needs. And these assholes think they deserve a 3 figure fee for telling their stupid story about sneaking into a government dinner (paid for by taxpayers btw). Why don't we drop them uninvited to a warzone? Guantanomo?

The best thing we can do is forget about them, starve them of attention.
