With them, it's all about ratings.

1. Considering that CNN and FOX also ran the video,
I do not understand the outrage directed solely at NBC. Just because one network ran it, doesn't mean the others had to. Unless, of course, this is all about ghoulish voyeurism and not news. Wait - it is.

2. Airing the footage is open to debate by reasonable people
but I think the gnashing of teeth by OTHER networks is a bit disingenuous. CNN, FAUX, CBS, ABC all would have aired that footage in a skinny minute. No question. The networks stirring up the debate need to step off and shut up. They are whores for anything tacky and tasteless and to now pretend they wouldn't have aired the videos is hypocritical. Hell, Faux would have added theme music and graphics to punch it up.

I still don't think it was necessary for the footage to be aired. Turn it over to the law enforcements and mental health professionals so maybe some good can come out of this mess. But rival networks whining about the inappropriateness of the tapes is flat out BS.

3. In TV world a gift like this only comes along once in a lifetime
Had any other network got it first, they would have done the same. And they would have had the same 'gravitas' that NBC tried to display. And the execs would be dancing in the board room at the coup.

4. I'm tired of NBC getting all of their paid pundits
to SAY that it was completely justified and that NBC showed "great restraint" in their airing this material.

5. More phony outrage ...
... from the preening narcissists who sold our nation out to the Party of Judas and its tinhorn Lone Star rhinestone cowboy.

(Not the OP, the Press.)

7. I wonder what would have happened if they announced...
they had the video but didn't show it. Would people be screaming to see it, or ask what were they hiding? I think the mistake was to keep showing it over and over.

9. Yeah, I think you're right!
Which means the "controversy" was probably manufactured by other networks who were envious of NBC for receiving such a "gift," or by RWers who see NBC as a bastion of liberalism, and would like to see NBC with a black eye.

10. It amazes that other networks are outraged over NBC
When they themselves aired the video and photos also. They are all hypocrites.
