So a hedge fund manager gets engaged...
...You know, someone whose job sector was part of the bailout that left "high times on Wall Street and hard times on Main Street;" someone who was born into a family of influence that pulled every string possible to set that person up for success; someone who went out on the stump for a political candidate and defended that politician's war-mongering and willful ignorance in the march up to Operation Enduring Freedom, going so far as to openly belittle those who asked honest questions about that candidate's refusal to see what millions around the world could.

And on a message board that is an ostensible home to progressive ideals, this scion of privilege's story generates the "warm fuzzies" for many of its denizens.

Forgive me, but I don't really get any warm feelings regarding some spoiled, rich kid whose life has been laid out for them like a luxurious carpet. Not in a day and age in which the aforementioned "hard times" were generated in large part by the very folks who unfurled that easy path for said kid.

Chelsea Clinton's engaged? Well, in her own words, "that's extraordinary." :eyes:

1. You are more than entitled to your opinion, of course...
However, I do think you're being a bit harsh.

Every young (and old for that matter) person deserves to be happy ...

Chelsea is no exception, even if everything you say is true.

Just my 2 cents.

2. What Do You Say About The Person Who Made Her Secretary Of State?
"someone who went out on the stump for a political candidate and defended that politician's war-mongering and willful ignorance in the march up to Operation Enduring Freedom..."

3. I say that same person cozied up to others of the same ilk...
...like Rahm Emanuel, and revealed themselves to be a little less than many of us bargained for, someone who said they wanted to bring "change" to Washington but ended up playing the same tired games.

4. I share those feelings
Chelsea and I graduated at the same time. I couldn't of worked entry-level for free in my field and she walked straight into Wall Street. That got under my skin a bit, I guess.

There are the owners and the ownerless. The priveledged and the masses. Im not sure why I should throw rice for those that own enough to feed the entire world. They can hire their own cheerleaders, for all I care.

7. I think it would be funny if the thousands left penniless...
...by the effects of NAFTA, media consolidation and the repeal of Taft-Hartley sent her parents gifts in the form of empty boxes.

5. I really don't think it's healthy
to carry around so much bitterness. Sure, she's rich, she's spoiled. I wish I was rich too. But I'm not going to get bitter about it because I think in the long run, that would block my happiness and opportunities.

11. I'm not so sure I "wish I was rich"...
...considering what I've seen wealth do to a lot of people.

6. her collaborative lies about Tuzla did it for me.
how she could justify that - ?
she's an adult and could have said, Mom, you're full of shit I'm not saying that!
and she shoul dhave been a lot wiser than Mom about the ways of the internets and archival vids.

anyway, I don't give a poop if she's marrying - she's a liar and a part of the leeching banking/investment system

9. For someone who probably didn't read one article or watch one video of Chelsea
during the campaign and for me, who doesn't know where she is working or on what - can you name a few specifics about what she's doing now. I would think that someone like her who witnessed a character assassination of her parents would try to play fair. My assumption, of course. There are some good people in investments - that we don't know enough about.

What is her role now on Wall Street - is it her firm or her role or activism that you refer to?

I don't really want to know anything bad, but I'm open.

P.S. I also missed the election participation - what was that.

Sorry for not knowing and asking you to take the time - I'd like to know what you know. It's best for me to learn how out of it I am.

10. I'm not your Google monkey...
...Wikipedia can be your friend. You also might want to try searching "Chelsea Clinton that's extraordinary."

Have fun.

13. Don't want you to be my monkey, but you didn't support your posting, imo. Flash and run?

As if everyone should know what your are referencing? Thanks for the two leads, though.

And, I don't care that you don't care.

15. Gee some people can't stop sluring the Clintons
even to those who have never done anything to hurt anybody. But gee that's their character they can't help it.
