Disclaimer: Yes-- it' true. Since our local Air America station went under and the area's irst Progressive Radio Station?picked up Thom Hartmann http://www.thomhartmann.com and then dropped him (and preempts Malloy for bullshit hockey games) and stuck in Good Ole Boy Faux Democrat Ed Shouts, his bellowing, Devil? Advocate hostility toward preogressive listeners and ?et ?r done?voice has forced me to listen to Rush Limbot more in the past 2 weeks than in the previous 20 years.

Rush really oughtta take more credit for his ill effects on American media and political discourse over the past 20 years. Aside from his false claims about how popular he is (the captive audience via ClearChannel, the current pretense that the ?riveBy Media?is the true enemy, is laughable.

Oh, that? right-- Limobt started out in a local market where he was considered ?unny?and an ?ntertaining?joke, until anal retentive Republican saps started taking him seriously and he moved on to the nationaly megamarket.

His show is owned and broadcast (including to troops overseas at taxpayers?expense; see below) by ClearChannel. Just who does he think he? fooling?

Really, Rush LimPotKettleBlack oughtta take more credit for his media influence. After 20 years of ?oarsening the culture?and fostering the ?reation of hatred,?after ?emonizing?and ?reating divisions?and degrading the American commonwealth-- now he is claiming that ?he Left?and ?The Democrats Party?and ?he Drive By Media?are doing what he has built a career perpetrating on American life.

Aside from the obvious plants that ?all in?to Limbot? show and lob softball ?uestions,?does anyone ever point out that this guy is totally transfused into ClearChannnel and Faux News? When he talks about ?rive by media,?aside from the obvious, crude racist aspects-- who the hell are listeners supposed to (not) think he? yapping about?

Must be nice to create a corporate communications monster and then pretend to criticize it, while working, profitting and serving its agenda.

Limbaugh Has No Place On The Front Line

Limbaugh's show is broadcast by the Department of Defense's American Forces Radio and Television Service, or AFRTS. According to its website, "The AFRTS mission is to communicate Department of Defense policies, priorities, programs, goals and initiatives. AFRTS provides stateside radio and television programming, 'a touch of home' to U.S. service men and women, DoD civilians and their families" outside the continental United States.

Why should American taxpayers pay for the broadcasting of such inexcusable views to U.S. troops? Why, at a combustible moment like this one, would we be funneling Limbaugh's trivializations to our men and women at the front? Does Limbaugh's pro-torture propaganda really qualify as "a touch of home"?

The government ought to make a greater effort to give a fair and balanced representation of political viewpoints on its airwaves to soldiers, sailors and airmen around the world listening," says Tom Athans, executive director of Democracy Radio, a nonprofit group in Washington that promotes political diversity on the airwaves. "It's important for the U.S. military, when using tax dollars, to not provide just one political perspective without giving consideration to opposing points of view." According to the Department of Defense's own broadcasting guidlines, "All political programming shall be characterized by its fairness and balance," and "equal opportunities" for "balance" are especially important "during presidential election years."

Rush Limbaugh's nationally syndicated radio show has an estimated audience of nearly 15 million weekly listeners. It is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications. Limbaugh also authored two books in collaborations with conservative writers: The Way Things Ought to Be (1992) with Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund and See, I Told You So (1993) with WorldNetDaily.com editor Joseph Farah.

Limbaugh regularly feeds his audience a diet of falsehoods, misstatements, distortions, invective, and childish put-downs in service of the conservative movement. During his long reign over the airwaves, Limbaugh has called abortion rights activists "feminazis", told an African-American caller to "take that bone out of your nose," referred to prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib as "blow some steam off, " and declared that "what's good for Al Qaeda is good for the Democratic Party." He touts his close connections to Republicans, claiming that he "ot a big hug" from President George W. Bush during a 2004 White House visit.

In August 2005, Limbaugh asserted that Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq who staged an anti-war protest outside President Bush's ranch in Texas, "is just Bill Burkett. Her story is nothing more than forged documents." Burkett is a retired Texas Air National Guard officer who provided CBS' 60 Minutes with unauthenticated documents regarding President Bush's National Guard record. After Media Matters for America documented this, he claimed that he was taken "out of context" by "little pimple-faced kids that are working at wannabe websites" -- even as the audio and text published by Media Matters proved otherwise. Limbaugh also claimed that Sheehan was "exploiting death."

Disclaimer: Yes-- it? true. Since our local Air America station went under and the area? ?irst Progressive Radio Station?picked up Thom Hartmann http://www.thomhartmann.com and then dropped him (and preempts Malloy for bullshit hockey games) and stuck in Good Ole Boy Faux Democrat Ed Shouts, his bellowing, Devil? Advocate hostility toward preogressive listeners and ?et ?r done?voice has forced me to listen to Rush Limbot more in the past 2 weeks than in the previous 20 years.

Rush really oughtta take more credit for his ill effects on American media and political discourse over the past 20 years. Aside from his false claims about how popular he is (the captive audience via ClearChannel, the current pretense that the ?riveBy Media?is the true enemy, is laughable.

Oh, that? right-- Limobt started out in a local market where he was considered ?unny?and an ?ntertaining?joke, until anal retentive Republican saps started taking him seriously and he moved on to the nationaly megamarket.

His show is owned and broadcast (including to troops overseas at taxpayers?expense; see below) by ClearChannel. Just who does he think he? fooling?

Really, Rush LimPotKettleBlack oughtta take more credit for his media influence. After 20 years of ?oarsening the culture?and fostering the ?reation of hatred,?after ?emonizing?and ?reating divisions?and degrading the American commonwealth-- now he is claiming that ?he Left?and ?The Democrats Party?and ?he Drive By Media?are doing what he has built a career perpetrating on American life.

Aside from the obvious plants that ?all in?to Limbot? show and lob softball ?uestions,?does anyone ever point out that this guy is totally transfused into ClearChannnel and Faux News? When he talks about ?rive by media,?aside from the obvious, crude racist aspects-- who the hell are listeners supposed to (not) think he? yapping about?

Must be nice to create a corporate communications monster and then pretend to criticize it, while working, profitting and serving its agenda.

Limbaugh's show is broadcast by the Department of Defense's American Forces Radio and Television Service, or AFRTS. According to its website, "The AFRTS mission is to communicate Department of Defense policies, priorities, programs, goals and initiatives. AFRTS provides stateside radio and television programming, 'a touch of home' to U.S. service men and women, DoD civilians and their families" outside the continental United States.

Why should American taxpayers pay for the broadcasting of such inexcusable views to U.S. troops? Why, at a combustible moment like this one, would we be funneling Limbaugh's trivializations to our men and women at the front? Does Limbaugh's pro-torture propaganda really qualify as "a touch of home"?

The government ought to make a greater effort to give a fair and balanced representation of political viewpoints on its airwaves to soldiers, sailors and airmen around the world listening," says Tom Athans, executive director of Democracy Radio, a nonprofit group in Washington that promotes political diversity on the airwaves. Rush Limbaugh's nationally syndicated radio show has an estimated audience of nearly 15 million weekly listeners. It is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications. Limbaugh regularly feeds his audience a diet of falsehoods, misstatements, distortions, invective, and childish put-downs in service of the conservative movement. During his long reign over the airwaves, Limbaugh has called abortion rights activists "feminazis", told an African-American caller to "take that bone out of your nose," referred to prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib as "blow some steam off, " and declared that "what's good for Al Qaeda is good for the Democratic Party." He touts his close connections to Republicans, claiming that he "ot a big hug" from President George W. Bush during a 2004 White House visit.

In August 2005, Limbaugh asserted that Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier killed in Iraq who staged an anti-war protest outside President Bush's ranch in Texas, "is just Bill Burkett. Her story is nothing more than forged documents." Burkett is a retired Texas Air National Guard officer who provided CBS' 60 Minutes with unauthenticated documents regarding President Bush's National Guard record. After Media Matters for America documented this, he claimed that he was taken "out of context" by "little pimple-faced kids that are working at wannabe websites" -- even as the audio and text published by Media Matters proved otherwise. Limbaugh also claimed that Sheehan was "exploiting death."
