Neighborhood Has 97 Registered Sex Offenders


ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cameras are going up in a neighborhood off North Orange Blossom Trail where 97 registered sex offenders live, and the offenders voted to have them installed, Local 6 News reported.

The cameras, which cost $20,000, are being paid for by a local woman who is afraid for her family. The sex offenders will be monitored and recorded 24 hours a day.

There will be 18 cameras in all at the Lake Shore Village mobile home park. The president of the Lake Shore Neighborhood Association, a man who wanted to be known only as Jeff, also is a registered sex offender.

“The majority of offenders don’t have anything to hide,” Jeff said. “It’s a good bunch of guys in here (who) made a mistake and now want to reintegrate into society.”
