I was held captive for 4 hours in the retail giant, standing in line for that one item that is too good a bargain to pass up. I tried to find one one line to spare myself the pain of standing in line to get the item, moving to another line to get the next item and then touring the store in a line that eventually ended at the check out. I did my part to feed the economy, how ever little it was.
I inflicted this torture upon myself, not for my self but for my beloved wife. God bless her, she has to work this monster the retailers have created. Earlier every year with bigger bargains, not only to beat last year but the guy down the street.
Unlike many of the fellow self inflicted, I went to one store for two items. Some of these people had been to 2 other stores when I saw them and were going to 2 or 3 others for sure.
I ask myself each year, was the bargain worth it? Was it worth missing the sleep to fight the crowd for that one big bargain? Was it really worth IT?
Then I tell myself that next year, I am shopping on-line only. Yeah, right!
It's nutz!
