At some point you must admit that both parties' leadership is basically the same.
One party lies to rabidly conservative people to always get their vote, one side lies to rabidly leftist people to get ours, and both of them fuck things up so much that the center keeps switching back and forth.

All this bitching and whining is not just about Obama, it is about the party he leads. The reality is that most repubs actually in power are not interested in setting up a theocracy, they are interested in taking your money. They may parade religion around a lot, and that is what really drives their worst followers, but they are themselves cold hard calculators. Now it has seemed at least since Clinton's days that the Democratic leadership is made up of a similar bunch, as Obama's tenure sadly makes clear.

At some point you must admit that our responses to the crises in our health and banking sectors has been nothing but window dressing. The same people that fucked them up so badly still control them, only now even the government is paying them. Wall Street is still full of legalized fraud. Health insurance and coverage are wasteful, over-priced, and inaccessible to poor people. From all accounts, the Senate is TRYING TO DEBATE whether some states can opt in to caring for a small fraction of their citizens with federal dollars.

Now, you can sit here and say, "but Obama is trying to get as much as he can out of the Congress, you can blame him for all this shit!" But, the reality is that he is the Dem's leader and he can set their tone in Washington. And his tactic was to approach a bunch of cold calculators, who are literally making money off killing people, and ask nicely for a compromise. Of course, they gave him nothing, and are now more than happy to take government money so that Obama can at least appear to keep his vague promise of "affordable healthcare" without pissing them off.

To really help people, at some point you must be aggressive. He is being pretty aggressive in our wars, why not here?

This is not what Obama campaigned on. No matter how you look at it, it is not change we can believe in, it is change to prop up the same old shit for another decade or two until we REALLY have to fix it.

Of course, our memories are short, and by that time Obama may well have "won" two wars over two terms and gone down as "the great compromiser," so why should he worry?

5. Maybe if you wipe the puke off your face you *would* be able to read and comprehend it.

6. Lovely, bobbie. No, I don't care to. I spent 8 years railing against
the * admin, and I'm not even willing to hear someone try to make a comparison to them. You go for it though, and have fun 'comprehending'.

8. Puking at someone on your own team ... yes, that is LOVELY.
For how many years now have we taken the hatred and shit from the RW, only to have it thrown at us from those of us supposedly on our side.

It's people like you who are turning off so many of us who have worked DECADES for polital issues... being liberal to the core.

And for that, we now get PUKE thrown at us.

Take a good look at what you've become.

Then, next November, when you are crying for votes, I'll throw this one right back at you.

YOU ARE THE ONES DOING THE DAMAGE AND CHASING SUPPORTERS AWAY.

Good for your team. :puke:

3. It's like Groundhog Day on DU sometimes.
That "both parties are the same" meme has been tried here for the last 8 years. Give the guy a chance would you. Or tell me which one person in America or planet Earth could fix the world's problems in 10 months?

4. Nobody expects all the problems to be fixed in a short time.

But what we would like see is some positive indication he--and the party--are heading that direction.

7. Well, let's hope the Republicans aren't worse than the Democrats
Because Obama is not going to have enough support in 2012 to win the election. We will probably end up with Palin as president, mainly because Obama decided he wanted to be a war president as head of the antiwar party.

10. Being a war president isn't the only reason a loss is a strong possibility.
On issue after issue, buying into the moneyed lobbyists, and selling out those who worked so hard to get him where he is.

He's the one who hired Perrino, and that is one very clear sign of where he is, and how he is shooting himself in the foot.

Not that it will "change" anything.

15. FAIL. The Republicans are all about taking away all the rights women and
minorities have gained in the past 200 years. The Democrats, not so much.

FAIL.

16. You have SOME valid points and Lord knows I've not been 100% satisfied with President Obama.
But, anyone who starts by telling me I HAVE to admit that Obama/Biden is the equivalent of Bush/Cheney has their head too far up their ass to merit serious discussion.

17. Politics is like football -- think of Obama as Tom Brady
The Democratic Party is like the Patriot players who suit up for the game.

However, the Patriot team is a lot more than the players -- it includes the owners, mangers, coaches, trainers, stadium personnel, security, legal staff, publicity and marketing, purchasing, ....

When you get beyond the players, the rest of the Patriot team has a lot more in common with the Colts team than they have differences.
