Rutgers women's basketball coach to write autobiography

Rutgers women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer earned countless fans last week when she stood up to radio shock jock Don Imus.

She also earned a book deal.

Stringer will write her autobiography for Crown, a division of Random House, which plans to publish the book next spring.

"It's about an incredible woman with an extraordinary life story," said Tina Constable, executive vice president for publicity at Crown, who declined to say how much the company will pay Stringer. "She's a pioneer, a legend, an icon and a role model."

2. Vivian was at Iowa for a while

I got to know her family. Vivian is an amazing woman who has overcome huge tragedies and has had some tremendous successes in spite of those tragedies. She has had a tremendous impact on the lives of her players and on the institutions where she has coached. I have no doubt that at some point there would have been an autobiography anyway.
A biography of Viv would be a real positive to come out of the Imus horsecrap.
