A freeper rant classic
My Rant

Posted on Saturday, November 21, 2009 11:06:16 PM by LTC.Ret

It's time.

No, I am not some crazy fringe lunatic. I am one of the most law abiding citizens around. I don't even have any moving traffic violations ever, in 40 years of driving, only a ticket once in college for an unnoticed (by me) expired inspection sticker. Never drank, never smoked, never tried drugs. I am the LAST person anyone would expect to say NO, NO MORE, NO WAY!!!

But it's time.

I served my country voluntarily for 31 years, and did my level best to give back to the Army and my soldiers more than they gave me. I have been awarded and decorated. I have served under Democrats and Republicans alike, with never a single disciplinary strike against me.

But it's time.

I started my small business from scratch and have provided jobs for lots of people along the way. I serve on the Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations, and spent 18 years working with a nonprofit. I have dedicated myself to improving my community and making a positive impact, NOT making waves.

But it's time, and I CHOOSE LIBERTY.

If the powers that be in Washington can make law-and-order ME so uncomfortable with the direction they are taking that I am thinking of civil disobedience, then they don't know how close they are to a civil upheaval of the masses.

I will be the next "Rosa Parks", if that's what it takes. I will say NO, NO MORE, NO WAY!!! The government has NO RIGHT to MAKE me buy health insurance. The government has NO RIGHT to FINE me or JAIL me for NOT BUYING health insurance. Perhaps if people see government injustice happening to me so undeservedly, while standing up for my Constitutional rights, then they will be rallied to rise up and reclaim our government with freedom and liberty guaranteed once again.

It is time for me to ask my state to give serious consideration to SECESSION if the unconstitutional Washington power grab can not be stopped NOW. I will be on the phone Monday talking to everyone who will listen to try to get that started.

It is time to TAKE AWAY the voting rights of anyone who is not directly paying income/property taxes, so that all voters will have "skin in the game" as they say.

If you are a PRODUCER who WORKS for a living, move here to this state and WELCOME. If you are a TAKER --- GO AWAY!!! It's time to CULL THE HERD!!! Too many have taken advantage of this nation's largess for far too long.

We need to do away with WELFARE and other entitlements in this state and others, so that it will be a good place once again for PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY to grow and flourish. If someone isn't working and is in need, they had better hope they are attending a CHURCH or have FAMILY/friends that are willing to help them out, because it is NOT government's job to do it and we need to STOP it NOW!!!

It's time we stop government by bribery and prostitution:

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., asked Madam Mary Landrieu of Louisiana if she would do IT for a 100 MILLION dollars.

Madam Landrieu of Louisiana replied "YES", she would do IT for a 100 MILLION dollars.

So Reid asked Madam Landrieu if she would do IT for one MILLION dollars.

Madam Landrieu replied, "What kind of a woman do you think I am?"

Reid answered, "We've already established that, now we're just negotiating the price!"

Madam Landrieu, you were bought and paid for, so don't quibble and blame others for the label you earned! And she wasn't the only one. But it wasn't even Majority Leader Harry Reid's money --- it was MY money and YOUR money that Harry Reid bought her with, and WE didn't get anything for that cash!!!

It needs to STOP here and now. We get LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS --- and NOTHING ELSE. No More FREE RIDES!!!

Speak the TRUTH. No more political correctness. If you can't handle the TRUTH --- TOUGH. Find some other country to ruin, but I want my USA back!!!

"Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country" --- NEVER TRUER!!!

He fucked it up so badly during the Reagan-Bush-Bush II years that he's not entitled to jack or shit. It would amuse me to watch this clown attempt to be the next Rosa Parks. Fill in the missing letters for when he's tossed in jail overnight for disorderly conduct: "Crying like a p__sy."

In fact, they are far tougher than dicks. Pussies birth babies. Dicks shrink in protest if an object simply pretends to head their way.

Misogynistic language makes no sense when you actually explain it.

That said: Yes. The Freeper exposed in the OP is a blithering idiot who probably considers himself a "Christian," even though he wouldn't know the Beatitudes (and their explanation for helping the poor and meek) if they were slapped up the side of his face.

Unfortunately for Lt. Col. Clodpole (Ret), the huge majority of the country disagrees with him on every point. By anyone's definition, he's a crank. He's going to call up everybody who'll listen on Monday? And what's he going to do with the rest of his morning? I bet his in-laws don't even invite him to Thanksgiving anymore.

To address Col. Clodpole directly:

"As for getting your USA back -- sorry, dickhead, that one's a no-can-do. Because 1) It never existed; 2) It wasn't yours anyway; and 3) Even if it did exist you let your butt buddy George Bush cornhole it to death. I suggest Paxil or cyanide (if you want something with more kick). Going into the mountains -- for good -- might be another choice. You can be free there (stay out of the national parks where they're growing weed, of course), you can even Shit In The Woods.

What could be better?"

6. Is this guy driving without the car insurance that the government mandates?
What if someone else hits him and they don't have insurance? Would he mind that?

The government required that people enlist during WWII; he probably thinks that was Evil.

He probably resents the fact that the government required that he get a 12th grade education.

He can't own a home, because lenders require insurance.

One wonders how much improving his community he would have been dedicated to if there weren't somekind of payoff for him in it.

"CULL THE HERD" - wow, just holy fucking, wow.

14. It's the idea of the "non-deserving" that bothers them.
Before we condemn them too harshly, it is good to remember that unfortunately, many Democrats agree that the non-working (read: undeserving) shouldn't be getting help either.

I wish this were just right-wing thinking, but unfortunately, it's mainstream American thinking.

37. Or, perhaps we should simply define every human being
As inherently deserving of the necessities of life (food, clothing, shelter, and medicine) without qualification or obligation.

I know, how insane, right? A society that guarantees basic subsistence as a right of citizenship... pure lunacy to most Americans.

42. I am working on that.
Also: I didn't intend that a functional definition of "deserving" should be the sole criteria for inclusion in Us.

I see it as ONE thing that can be done to help others become aware of something that is being obscured by their ignorance of, prejudice against, and lack of creative ability to see.

12. I think we're failing to see something in this PR piece
We, here at DU, are actually in agreement with the underlying sentiment expressed in the letter, just not the actual direction that it's focusing that anger on.

I want my country back (from the corporate masters) & Sen X is a whore for the lobbyists

Now I have no doubt that it's a professionally written piece by some PR firm that routinely turns these out so they can get emailed to everyone on down the line.

But I think we sometimes underestimate that populist anger that is underneath on BOTH sides of the aisle. Think about the "change" we voted for - and how pissed off many are getting because it's a whole lot more business as usual than change.

But as the OP and responses actually shows - we spend more time focusing on what we don't agree with in that "letter" rather than the parts that we do. It's so much easier to keep both sides of the aisle pointing fingers at each other so that we don't pay attention to what's happening in DC (majority of population, not those of us political junkies who hang out in places like this)

Now I think that those on this side of the aisle are better at seeing through the BS and knowing what we're actually fighting against - when they see Glenn Beck & Rush up there stoking their racist side to the point of screaming "we want our country back" they think no further than that, most liberals and progressives actually take it that one step further to understand that there's a corporation giving them a platform and money because it furthers the corporation's interest, certainly not ours. And we do understand who we really need to take our country back from.

But we're fractured and divided - what we've got to figure out is how to couple their anger with ours - so that we can build enough pressure/votes on TPB into actually remembering who they were sent there to represent. Obviously, we'll never reach the 20% fringe (and wouldn't want to associate with many of them truth be told) - but there really is no reason that we shouldn't have 70-80% of the population, loudly and relentlessly fighting for real health care reform, real financial reform.

Can you imagine getting those type majorities to march into a Blue Dog's office to let him know he would be voting Yes on single payer? He couldn't get down to the floor fast enough to make a speech completely in favor of it.

40. With my family RWer's - it's helped to point out the corporate support
and how they benefit whenever one of the relatives has bought up one of the standard talking points. I'm not trying to diffuse their anger as much as hoping to re-channel it. I was a 'pulled up my own damn bootstraps' Repub for the first 32 years, then life happened and I found out just how wrong I'd been about things like welfare, safety nets and even the charity of friends (or some I had called friends). Once my eyes got opened on one issue, it made me start questioning all the rest.

Most Repubs can parrot the talking points as well as Sarah Palin, with glazed over eyes and no comprehension. But there's always something that has really stuck in their craw and has them pissed off, that's the issue to focus on

it doesn't state that it took 31 years to make Lt col, only that he served for 31. Could have several years enlisted service prior to commission, could have been advanced to that rank and stayed for the remainder of the 31, one never knows.

Of course no one can prove it. That's supposed to make them unopposable.

They also often claim to have started their own business. Don't have a job? Create one. (They actually say that of the unemployed).

Most of them are probably underemployed and never served in the military. They blame too much regulation for their failures.
