Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 03:55 PM by WilliamPitt
I am sometimes motivated to distrust my own internal Outrage-O-Meter whenever the needle pins deep in the red zone. Am I just too involved? Too biased? Is my bottle so filled with this nonsense that small pours into it become flooding slop-overs?

I watched every second of those hearings.

I think that was among the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. I'm ashamed for my country after that. This man is in the line of succession? Egads and gad zooks.

Was it really as spoon-bendingly bad as it seemed to me?

If he didn't have the corporate press corps protecting him, where would he be?

25. Any time Bush opens his mouth, what comes out is
cringeworthy and embarrassing. How anyone was duped into voting for a guy who can't complete a coherent sentence (and that's while wearing an earpiece being fed the answers), I'll never understand. The American people aren't even collectively intelligent enough to know a moron when they see one.

He teaches classes on the subject. No, really, he does.

He sees this as a minor bump in the road.

He won't stop until he's arrested. And even then, he may post bail and go back to work.

... I don't recall. I mean, I don't remember watching any of it - but I do remember what was said, somewhat -- maybe I don't.

Forgive me, but my recollection seems to be a bit fuzzy on this -- oh, I am reminded that I DID watch the hearings, but -- this is so funny, but I just don't have any recollection.

QUESTION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED BUT WASN'T:

"Mr. Gonzales, HOW on earth do you find your way home every night? How do you remember where you live? Just wonderin'."

23. Not only was the hearing bad, it was an embarrassment to all
Americans who expect that their government is smart enough to function. A few of the questions were on the mark but I was outraged that Gonzo was allowed to get away with the "not to my recollection" baloney. No-one believes any of this and to make matters even worse, the whole hearing left me wondering what these people really do all day. Gonzales gives the impression that he does nothing but stand around and let his underlings do all the work. Surely he does not think that his "I have no recollection" line is going to fly with anyone. It strikes me as a way to avoid giving the real answer that may trip him up. Yes, there need to be consequences. He has to go now and it is clear that he has no plans to do so. Saying that he takes responsibility does not cut it. Those words are nothing but words. No action will result.

"Gonzo's testimony was refreshingly frank as he forthrightly admitted to some small errors. But he had the Dems back on their heels as they couldn't even put forth a unified approach and continued to have disagreements among themselves. The president once again expressed strong support for the AG, and it looks like he has weathered the storm in a teapot and will be here to stay." You just wait.

71. Honest to god, I think he's so weak he probably just does EXACTLY what he's told to do.
I can't see how he could possibly be responsible for the actions coming out of the AG's office, simply because he seems too--what, brainless? I can't think of the right word, but he just doesn't seem COMPETENT, I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

Doesn't he just look like the kind of guy that the junior high school bully could back into a corner and then get him to do whatever he wanted just so he wouldn't get hurt? I think that may be what's happened here. He's not a strong authority figure at all.

I was interested to hear what they had to say, rather than DU because I know what us guys think. They are still talking about it, right now as I type, discussing it and playing clips.

an especially bad idea for that AG to not have the tools required of an AG or of a public servant. Gonzales has to be added to the very long list of disastrous administration decisions....the one that includes Meiers, Brown, Chalabi, Katrina, Rumsfeld, Iraq, Kerrick, and a hundred others.

I didn't see the hearings on TV but listened to the audio while driving my truck for a living.

It's absolutely the worst performance I've ever heard from a government official, bar none. Not even fucking close.

If Gonzales doesn't tender his resignation AND Bush fails to ask for it, a Democratic revolution in November 2008 is practically ensured.

But, hey, I've searched my mind and I just don't recall when I've been wrong before.

63. What became obvious is that the man is glaringly unintelligent
which is as kind a way as I can think of to say it. he's not mediocre. he's a perfect Peter Principle dullard used by Bush as a family retainer who is so besmirched by now that he is utterly beholden to Bush as he would never find another job anywhere.

It was that bad, but mind stopping is a blessing in this case and that's good!

69. On PBS News Hour
Judy Woodruff interviewed Leahy and Specter; at the end she notes Bush said Gonzo still has his full confidence, to which Leahy comments,

"Then the President has set a very low bar indeed."

Bwahahahahaha!

70. Oh, come on--aren't you proud to have someone like that standing up
for the Constitution? I mean, really, who would be better? He's doing a FINE job!!!

:sarcasm:

I'm thinking the moldy food in my fridge could do better.

On the other hand, I was listening to Rachel Maddow on the way home tonight and, man, he really got his ass handed to him on a platter, didn't he? And the hardest hitters were from his own party!

If that can't convince you that you need to go, you are truly delusional . . . kinda like his boss . . . .

76. Sucked Hard Enough To Bend Light.
I didn't even get to watch the whole thing, but even so my Outrage-O-Meter redlined, then went *sproing* and the needle and the dial and a whole bunch of little springs popped out. I have to repair my Outrage-O-Meter before I watch another hearing.

If he wasn't, it's all meaningless anyway since he lied through he teeth.

88. He was
That sucked and it was under oath, hence the "I don't recall" marathon. After all, we don't yet have a mind probe to be able to determine if that is a lie. Though, since Abu Gonzo is a loyal Pug, we know he was lying because his lips were moving. Dead giveaway, that.

78. It was a pitiful performance....Even Nuremberg Trails would have been ashamed
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 08:08 PM by KoKo01
of this ...this.

Hyperbole...but anyone who watched that "excuse" for an Attorney General..or an American...couldn't see differently....COULD THEY?

I imagine Bush/Cheney on trial would say the same: "It was a Consensus Opinion," "I don't recall that," "It may have been, but I don't recall that," "it was the consensus," "Senator, I will have to get back on that for you.....yadda, yadda, yadda."

Maybe Cheney would have been better...He might have danced with McCain to "Bomb, bomb, Bomb Iran...Bomb, Bomb Bomb...or maybe he would have done "I'm 'MC ROVE'!"

Actually, Cheney and the THINK TANKS and the FED "Corporate Media Whores" RUN AMERICA..

I shouldn't have been surprised by "Abu" stonewalling himself, lying his clueless head off ...all for his MASTER who FED HIM ALL THESE YEARS.

80. I watched the rerun up to Feinstein.
It was that bad. I've been embarrassed and ashamed of this country for the last 6 years, the hearings today added to it. I expect it will get worse. My worst conspiracy theories about this administration are not even close to the sick and twisted reality I watch on CSpan.

82. No, you're not biased.
It was a fucking disgrace and Gonzalez should be ashamed of himself. He practiced for weeks for this? Can you even imagine how much worse he was three weeks ago? He looked and sounded like a fool. This man runs the legal arm of our government? He has absolutely no idea what is going on in his own department. He has given all responsibility to underlings that are hopelessly inept and dangerously ideological. And everything, EVERYTHING is political.

Unless it's all a sham and he's dumb like a fox.

But I doubt it.

We are in very dangerous times here.

84. It was bad but not the worst ever
OTOH, that's how it's being spun, so I'm more than willing to sign on for that spin. It really is such a rare thing that anything these thugs do is spun as a failure so it's well overdue.

But yes, the rage-o-meter for those of us who actually pay attention is very sensitive. They've just done so much that we are over saturated.

87. I'm watching it now and it's painfully bad. But that hearing on Tuesday
on "rendition" aka, kidnapping, was worse. EU officials were treated to the news that American congressmen believe that kidnapping and torture are fine if they might save American lives and that the EU is just a bunch of whiners. Michael Scheuer chimed in with the CIA view and in total agreement. It was horrendous.

I haven't been that embarrassed since Junior was on his Rock & Bottle Tour in Latin America.

Don't tell me that deep down somewhere you didn't really enjoy watching Turd Blossom Jr. squirm?

Just what kind of Dem are you anyways?

(Just pulling your leg).

But on you point about the line of succession; they gotta get through Nancy before they get to Gonzo.
