Are Taxes going up in Reid HCR bill? refuting RWinger claim
Edited on Sat Nov-21-09 12:09 AM by HipChick
no kids, and can barely burn through a 1500 FSA

- you’ll start paying higher taxes to fund this scheme in 2010 even though it doesn’t start up until 2014. Among the provisions in this bill will be a $2500 cap on Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). The IRS allows families with special needs children to use FSAs to cover educational expenses. This new $2500 cap will hit these families especially hard and cost them hundreds of dollars in new taxes every year.

2. I don't think that's true. In the Senate bill there is a tax of
.5% on the higher income workers medicare tax. BFD! 1/2%? And they're bitching??? There is also a tax on elective cosmetic surgery like nose jobs, face lifts etc. Again I have to say BFD. If I can afford a $10,000 surgery for some cosmetic enhancements, I can afford another $500!

In all fairness, we are living on SS, but if my taxes have to go up a little to make HC affordable to everyone in the US, I'm willing to pay them! I think the whole ptogram could be paid for if everybody's taxes went up $10.00 a year! I think you'd find it very difficult to find anyone who couldn't afford $10 a year!!!!

3. ok...found it and also found out where they are getting that piece of mis-information from

freaking Sarah Palin - I hate that biatch ...apparently she just posted this on her stupid FB page asking her Palinbots to contact their senators and have them vote against HCR - she is such a fear-mongering liar

it’s a vote against billions in tax increases and penalties; And in case you hadn’t heard – just a reminder that you’ll start paying higher taxes to fund this scheme in 2010 even though it doesn’t start up until 2014

For individuals, wages above $200,000 are subject to payroll taxes of 3.4%. That’s a 0.5 percentage point tax increase. So for each $1K you make above $200K, you would pay $5 more in payroll taxes.

4. As I said...BFD! I'm willing to pay $10 more/yr and the only
income we have is SS. Yes we do have a little in a 401K, but it's about $125,000 and surely not growing. What happens if one or both of us have to go into a nursing home? That $$ isn't going to last but a few months!

I'm so sick of the fear mongers! Why are you so worried about spendind less than you spend on coffee every day? If you go to Starbucks, you wouldn't be only paying $5/$1000 but more than $5.00/day!!!!

Get frigin over it!
