Kudos to our students! I'm so proud. <sniff>

And kudos to the OP who simply posted the article sans the elitist geographic bigotry.

4. good for them

Sadly enough change usually is left up to the young people. We older people have too many obligations to take care of to truly effect change. I'm in my thirties and I have an autistic son. Am I really going do something as drastic as these young people have done? Probably not. I wish I could. One thing I have done in the past that I am proud of is that I went to a huge protest the day before we invaded Iraq. There were about 10,000 people there. It was great to be a part of something so big.

6. yeah!
We need MORE of this!

I am such an advocate for protest, probably because my parents wouldn't let me do anything like that growing up. Besides, i miss the unity and protests of the 60's, wonder where it went in MY generation because we just seem to have gone along with everything ...maybe because we felt we had no voice or choices... ?

but this is so heartening, i wish them luck!

18. good luck, kiddos...
they've promised not to jack our fees again here. my tuition is paid (i'm a grad student)...but the fees are a killer. at this point, though, i'm so in debt another couple hundred bucks is a drop in the bucket. pretty sad. i'll end up working for the government so that i can pay my debt off sooner (and university's aren't hiring right now. it's a good thing i'm a latin americanist...always problems down there that need experts.

nice to see kids with brains in their skulls not concerned only with fashion, american idol and twilight (sorry to generalize, but it's all my students talk about lately).
