5. Uh, Native Awericans have health care...of sorts...already.

They have their own clinics run by BIA (IIRC). Granted these are underfunded, understaffed, and hardly the epitome of medical advancement, but they have healthcare on the res.

This is why we need single payer. The only mandate we really need is that medicare, medicaid and the state insurances (WA state has one as well but there is a 2-3 year waiting list to get it) get expanded to the whole population, funded properly and providers be required to accept it.

Otherwise you wind up with a two-tiered system, one for the conventionally insured and one for the poor. The 'public' one for the poor will be replete with horror stories, waiting times, quotas, etc. It's a great way to kill off support for government involvement in medicine, and I'm pretty it's failure is being built right in to our current product.
