I'm watching "Count Down to Ground Zero"
on the History Channel. Wow, brings back horrendous memories. Where were you, what were you doing when you heard/saw?

I was in a meeting with another manager discussing the need to layoff an employee when another manager barged in and said, "a plane just flew into the World Trade Center!" We just rolled our eyes - some stupid private plane clipped a wing or something ... we were discussing something important, don't bother us with this. But then the manager appeared again, ANOTHER plane - we rushed out to the television set playing in the residents' activity room (a senior citizen home) - and saw the horror unfolding.

I never want to see anything like that again.

1. I was in Florida not far from where Bush was reading
to schoolkids.

Bush looked pitiful when he was informed; it was obvious he didn't know what to do.

3. This "show"
is breaking my heart all over again. So many heroes, so much loss.

4. I don't know that I could watch it again.
I saw it all in real time that morning. It was very early on the west coast, but I had flipped on my TV when the cat woke me up. I had it on CNN just as the news of the first plane hit. And then we all watched as the second plane came in and hit. In real time.

There are no words to describe that day. It's important for us to remember that most of the people in the world have experienced this kind of horror in their own lives, from one war or another.

Solidarity. Stop war now.

5. I hear you
I've had to quit watching. Posting instead on a "liver" thread in the lounge. Escapism, thy name is liver & onions.

6. I was working in downtown SF, had a clear view of the TransAmerica tower.
Small tv in the office, about 100 people trying to watch it.

After 2 days of watching re-runs on the news, Mr. D and I started a plan to move.
We got real serious about the plan when Bush invaded Iraq.

Later, after the move, I watched every single frame of tv coverage from 5 tv stations via The Internet Archive. And asked myself why the same 5 tv stations had only the one identical pic of the plane hitting the 2nd tower. Bit with different colored hazy backgrounds.

Glad we moved.
