mccain sings "bomb bomb, bomb. iran" at rally
from www.huffingtonpost.com

<snip>

Another man ? wondering if an attack on Iran is in the works ? wanted to know when America is going to ?send an air mail message to Tehran.?
McCain began his answer by changing the words to a popular Beach Boys song.
"Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran," he sang to the tune of Barbara Ann. ?Iran is dedicated to the destruction of Israel. That alone should concern us but now they are trying for nuclear capabilities. I totally support the President when he says we will not allow Iran to destroy Israel.

4. Every once in a while, I try to be "reasonable" and convince myself
that McCain, though deeply flawed, is a perfectly sane individual. I suppose I'm just trying to justify my 2000 support for him, but I still give it a go now and then.

Then he has to go do something like this. Jesus Christ, Walnuts, do you have any f*cking desire to be President, or are you content to become the Most Laughably Insane Candidate Ever?

6. I feel the same way--I try to give him the benefit of the doubt,
because I don't want to believe I was so wrong about somebody. And then he says batshit-crazy things.

10. Senile Dementia?
Could Senator McCain be suffering from senile dementia?

Age aside, he suffered torture in Vietnam. The mental anguish he suffered and the lack of what we now know as sophisticated psychiatry in the 1970's could have shattered his psyche and his emotional state is like a piece of glass shattered into several pieces and put back together haphazardly with crazy glue.

Now, to the original premise of this post. I apologize if I come across as insensitive but I am just making an observation here. McCain is a skin cancer survivor. He has already survived a recurrence of it in 2000 and it is considered rare to survive three bouts of cancer. As such, he is likely on a very harsh regimen of cancer-suppressing drugs. These are known for being taxing on the body (as can be evidenced by the bloating of his face) and can affect temper and mood in some people.

As such, he probably has problem with temperament and judgment but is not insane. Many people who are on these tough meds live fruitful and enjoyable lives. Of course, they aren't running for president either.

11. Your post is thoughtful, informative
and well written. Thank you for the info.

I've been wondering about this man for a while, and it looks like you're probably right. How long was he tortured? That may make a difference.

I think you're right: this man should not do anything more complicated than basket weaving, right now.

16. John McCain's volatile temper is well documented
In a July 5 NewsMax.com article, former Senator Bob Smith, a New Hampshire Republican who served with McCain on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said, "I have witnessed incidents where he has used profanity at colleagues and exploded at colleagues.... He would disagree about something and then explode.

"It was incidents of irrational behavior. We've all had incidents where we have gotten angry, but I've never seen anyone act like that."

McCain's outbursts often erupted when other members rebuffed his requests for support during his bid in 2000 for the Republican nomination for president, the story said.

"He had very few friends in the Senate," said former Senator Smith, who dealt with McCain almost daily. "He has a lot of support around the country, but I don't think he has a lot of support from people who know him well."
