bishop says no to homo tourism at Vatican
ETN asked the Bishop if the Vatican's stand was clearly against tourism, and the Bishop answered: "The church teachings are from the Bible. If we change this teaching, we will not be the Catholic Church. Don't expect the Catholic church to change these issues, because it is our identity." When asked if the Vatican is open to dialogue about welcoming such homosexual groups of tourists in the future, Bishop Kaleta responded that "such demonstrations are just not ethical."

Publisher Steinmetz clarified that what was meant by gay travel was traveling for the purpose of a visit, not as a demonstration. To this the Bishop replied, "I consider if someone is homosexual, it is a provocation and an abuse of this place. Try to go to a mosque if you are not Muslim. It is abuse of our buildings and our religion because the church interprets our religion that it is not ethical. We expect respect of our church as we expect to respect that a person does not have to belong to the Catholic Church. If you have different ideas, go to a different location."

9. The Catholic Church is a hate group and all its members are a member of a hate group.
The members may not be hateful, but they do choose to belong to a hate group.

14. So much for do unto others and casting the first stone and all that.
The Catholic Church is promoting hatred. I'm sure God won't be thrilled with that.

16. ROFL..........................
This has got to be about the most absurd thing I've ever heard of. Hey Bishop, we are all sinners in the eyes of the Lord (or Allah, or Yahweh). So no one can visit the Vatican, no one. Not the bishop, not the Nazi Pope, no one, not even Mother Theresa. They would have to ban all the pedophiles and infest the Catholic Church from the top to the bottom (no pun intended), those who are divorced, adulterers, those who don't tithe, etc.

It does remind me of a cute joke I heard about these two Catholic clergy (priests, bishops, cardinals, whatever) that were about to start down the processional for a Mass. The one turned to the other and said, "Girl, those new gold shoes and pointy hat are awful. Where did you get them, at the bargain basement?. The other one replied, well I wouldn't talk, your purse is on fire."

21. Actually, I would love to go there to see the art.
There is a hell of a lot of beautiful and historically significant art in the Vatican.

If only the Vatican's artwork and historical archives were held by museums, instead of by the Vatican, that would be an amazing advance for everyone. Then the Vatican could keep their politics and bullshit without holding history hostage.

20. So, if no homos are allowed, are priests being denied entry now?

There are definitely a lot of gay priests, and only a fool would deny it.

Though, on a serious note, I would hate to see used an another excuse to hunt them out of the closet and persecute them. Damn it, they have a hard enough time dealing with church bigotry from the inside. :(

24. With people like that running the place one has to wonder
if the Church would ever allow a true reformer anywhere close to the Papacy or if he happened to get elected to ever live?
