We believe parents, and not the state, should be in charge of their children's education. That control may take many forms and levels of involvement, but the state will never be part of the picture.
Government schooling is not good for children, families or society.
Our society has become a slave to the state by virtue of government-controlled schools. Children suffer, parents feel helpless, and scores of good educators feel trapped in a system that never should have existed in the first place.
http://www.schoolandstate.org/home.htmThis organization is funding campaigns of voucher proponents all over the US. They have a proclamation online and here are some of the comments left by the signers:My hobbies include hunting, fishing, golfing, and reading politically charged books. My entire family vote republican as do I,but they are spending our money faster than liberals do.
Why I Signed: I became self-employed and I have a daughter that is in a public school. The only thing that she is learning is how to be more pleasant to others and to the envirement. They are not teaching her the fundamentals.
I guess spelling and grammar are 'fundamentals' he missed while being educated.Born again adopted daughter of the Lord Jesus Christ; helpmeet of Jerry Arthaud happily & without regrets for past 22 years; veteran home educator, career on hold to educate her own children; bookworm who loves to sit at Christ's feet via books written
What is a helpmeet?Pro-life grandmother of 6 homeschooled kids
I am, in this order: a Christian, American, Conservative father of two with a wonderful wife and we are homeschoolers. I am an optometrist by profession
Why I Signed: I want not only my children, but all children in this country to receive the best education possible. The government time and time again has proven they can not provide this and frankly, that is not their job, anyway. I believe in strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, and educating our children is not in there as a duty of the federal government.
I'm a computer programmer, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Politically, I'm a registered Libertarian
Why I Signed: I signed the Proclamation because I feel that, with a lack of free-market competition, our nation's public schools have suffered greatly. Privatization will help bring about innovation, creativity, and, most importantly, cost savings, in American.
Most children don't learn life skills in public school. I have been on both sides and got tired of having teachers tell me I need to teach my children this and that.
Why I Signed: Public school teachers have sent me notes with several misspelled words while my children were in school telling me to teach them it got old. I want my children to learn the true history of our country, not the new version created by a small group of atheists.
Yep, those darned atheists are such poor spellers!I am married, with five children (Last one finishing college in 2005), fairly conservative and believe that government today has vastly assumed roles never envisioned by our founding fathers. Education is one of many.
I work in a state education agency. HELLO?? Where did you say you worked? My husband and I raised seven children with high morales and christian standards the public shool system told them we had no say and taught them their rights our children became disobedient and rebeled against our authority.
And those high morales of yours had nothing to do with that rebellion?I am A Grad student in history @ MSU and I am active in local and state politics and was State treasurer candidate for the Constitution Party in 2004
Why I Signed: It was about time I stood up and took a stand against the public schools. We are entitled to nothing from the government but defense.
MSU is a state university!I left the names out. They are listed in ABC order and I stopped at the Cs.To see other signatures (you can search by location and find your neighbors!):
