If we want real reform we will have to purge the DLC'ers out of our party
The Democratic party as it stands now, only plays lip service to progressive principles. If liberal Dems want their party back they're going to have boot out the Rahm's, Bayhs and the rest of the corporatist that are running things.

7. If the repukes have a purge of "moderates"
and we have a purge of "moderates" then they'll probably be enough left over to create a significant "moderate" party.

27. When the Republicans purge the DLC will welcome the outcasts with open arms.
They'll re-brand them as Democrats and we'll have even more bluedogs. Then it will be the left wing of the Democratic party that gets purged.

survive this purge.. and how small of a minority would the new pure party be...

24. Actually, the Republicrats are the small majority- which is shown every time a policy fight comes up
and gets handed to Republicans by a handful of turncoat Dems. That in turn hurts the party, as it blurs the contrast between successful progressive policies- and FAILED ideology that's still being spouted off the blue dogs.

Dems end up standing for nothing- and, just as happened in the 90's will end up losing again.

Purge the corporate loving, MIC loving neocon enablers.

5. I'll Say it Again just in case you didn't get it the First Time
IF YOU WANT REAL REFORM THEN PURGE THE DLCERS

If you just want want the same horrific wars, decline of the middle class and gutting of civil liberties then don't reform the party. It won't matter weather it's dems or repubs in charge it's all the same FUCKING shit!

29. People are in for a rude awakening if they think this GOP purge is ...
going to be great for liberals. The DLC will welcome in the castoffs and push the party even further to the right. Then they'll call anyone who complains far left moonbats. They've already been calling us that behind our backs in the white house.

6. "Lip service"? You mean you have actully seen even THAT much notice by Dems?
Wow! From where I sit it seems obvious that progressives are expected to open their wallets and work their hearts out to elect folks and THEN sit silently by while the people they worked their asses off to elect veer to the right and vote what is called "moderate" (though is usually far more conservative than what we worked to elect).

8. So we must purge moderates just like the Republicans are purging moderates.
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 07:12 PM by Speck Tater
That doesn't sound very smart to me. That leaves the two opposite extremes screaming at each other and no support from the vast majority of the population.

14. Another word for those 'moderates' is sell-outs
Another would be traitors.

They are actively working to undermine government of the people and replace it with corporate rule.

And you are actively working to help them do it.

Then who are these corporatists representing?

16. Don't talk to the crazies
Seriously. Just let then foam at the mouth for a while. Don't feed them (this was the republican mistake) live in the reality based community, and if the wingnuts on both sides think this is a particularly radical electorate on either side, let them dream and work for a better future as they see it.

States get to elect their own officials and as unhappy as you may be with democracy Nebraska is not going to elect a Nancy Pelosi....

10. We need to make them irrelevant by taking our party back and refusing to elect
any corporate DLCers in the future. When the Green Party was created years ago, we lost a lot of our progressive base then and the DLC came along pulling us to the corporate right. We need to start making liberalism, socialism and even communism acceptable again. Although I'm not against heavily regulated capitalism, laissez faire capitalism and usuary in lending needs to be be soundly condemned and made illegal.

18. I have a plan to Reform DC
I want to allow representatives to write legislation, but lack the powers to fund it. After it has been signed into law, they will post the bill in the public domain and if the people chose to support the bill, thy will donate to that cause. No donations will be allowed to go in slush funds. It must go to the designated legislation only. All government will be run by volunteers and there will be no tax collections. ONLY States will continue to collect taxes to run their states.

This will;
1.End Lobbyists.
2.End the IRS.
3.End the corporate/representative relationship.
4.End corporate aid and pork barreling.
5.End wars we oppose.

And this alone will put 50% of those tax payments (You once made to the feds) back into your pocket. Some have feared people will not donate to social security or medicare, welfare, etc. We are the most generous nation on Earth and donate more to foreigners than anyone, so of our free will I am sure we would fund these programs and many others, adequately.

yes, great idea throw the sensible dems overboard and hand the party over to the extremists.

Actually wining elections is way overrated.

Honest progressives know they need moderates to put the brakes on the extreme lefts more wacky impulses.

by blurring the contrast between the policies and creating the perception that Dems stood for nothing. But then- you're "clever" so you probably already knew that.

I am clearly dangerous and must be stopped.

Show me the huge groundswell of support you pretend exists, and I'll be less dismissive of these oft-repeated anti-moderate screeds.

How many states did Dennis Kucinich win in the democratic primaries again?... Oh yeah... NONE ... Twice!
