Pataki backs RW nutjob in NY's 23rd
http://www.thealbanyproject.com/diary/7497/ny23-pataki-goes-rogue-endorses-hoffman

It seems that George Pataki has decided to embrace the wingnuts and make common cause with the likes of Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint, Michelle Bachman, Pat Buchanan, Michelle Malkin and Rick Perry by endorsing Con candidate and teabagger darling Doug Hoffman.

Pataki quote:

As someone personally engaged in the way of life in the Adirondacks and Northern New York, I'm deeply concerned about the course of our nation and the outcome of the election in the 23rd Congressional District.
Simply put, we cannot afford to give another vote to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid we cannot afford another vote for higher taxes, we cannot afford another vote for government run health care and we absolutely cannot afford another vote to take away from hard working men and women the right to secret ballot.

That is why tonight, I'm proud to endorse Doug Hoffman, a Republican, running on the Conservative line for Congress in the 23rd Congressional District.

1. did they have a primary?
if so, why on earth is a republican pulling a Lieberman, and running on a different party ticket?
why even have parties, if anyone can run on any party ticket?

2. They're Hopping On The Badwagon...
The more people who support Hoffman, the worse things will get for the rushpublicans. If Hoffman wins, any moderate (meaning to the left of Atilla The Hun) will face challenges or have to kow tow to the extremists and turn the GOOP into one that will never be able to win national...and in many cases, statewide elections. And to the politicians who are jumping on Hoffman's side, they may regret if he does win as they will be find themselves having to pick sides again and again.

Opportunists...all of 'em...with not a stitch of integrity in that entirely corrupt party.

4. They have to run again in '10, so whomever wins, will "win" very little
since they will have to start campaigning the instant they are sworn in, and will not even be settled in before they hit the campaign trail..

there will be the Thanksgiving break, the Xmas break, the Easter break, the Memorial day break, the 4th of July break, and then all of August break..followed by the Labor day break.. and then we have the '10 election
