This guy is a veteran and former Governor...and he's a Democrat. He is the highest ranking Dem on that committee with no chairmanship.

He is the person who came up with the "opt-out" Public Option that the Dem caucus has decided on. The same plan that Lieberman is currently shitting on, in support of a plan drafted by a Republican.

Can anyone tell me Lieberman, who rubber-stamped Bush's incompetent FEMA appointees, has a chairmanship in a Dem-controlled Senate while a more qualified and competent Democrat is left out in the cold?

Or better yet, give it to Feingold, who also holds no chair and outranks Carper.

Bottom line, why the hell have I heard of no threats from Dem leadership to strip Lieberman of his chairmanship?

1. Carper is a corporate whore too - give the seat to Feingold
He deserves it 100 times more than both Lieberman and Carper combined.

2. Hence why I said "better yet, give it to Feingold".
Carper is the highest ranking Dem who currently sits on the committee and has no chair.

When you look over the list of Dems being passed over for chairmanships for the likes of Lieberman, it's infuriating.

Wyden is also on that list, as is Murray and Reed.

3. It would take 60 votes to strip a senator of his chairmanship midsession.

As a new organizing resolution would be required.

Surely Mr Lieberman would not aide his own demise and support cloture on such a resolution.

You don't hear about it because it is not practical.

4. Thanks. I did not know that.
So what was with Reid's threat a while back to strip all Dems who would support a Republican filibuster of their leadership positions?

6. He may have been referring to the next Congress
Where it would be very easy to move chairs around at the start of the session.

5. Give it to Feingold

Carper isn't much better than Unholy Joe. If we can't throw the fake "Democrats" out of the party entirely, the least we can do is keep them out of leadership positions, since they obviously cannot LEAD.
