Why does Lieberman's Staff still support him?
Edited on Thu Oct-29-09 01:04 PM by maxrandb
I can understand Joe being a heartless, bribe taking prick, but wouldn't his Senate staff tend to be made up of Democrats? Perhaps even Democrats that support President Obama and, unlike Rush Limbaugh, don't want him to fail.

If there is one of them that will resign and bring all the dirty little secret of Lieberman with him and out into the light?, it is time for that staffer to come forward

I just don't understand it. If I worked for a Democratic Senator who was threatening to filibuster the most important legislation a Democratic President had introduced, I would have to resign.

8. Largely because all the state's Republicans voted for him
But, point taken: there were still far too many Dems who voted for him. Most of those I know are now very, very sorry they did. Which doesn't help much, I know.

4. Probably for the same reason
that a lot of people continue to work for bosses that are assholes. Money to pay the mortgage, car, food for everyone in the house.

Not everyone can get up and quit as soon as their boss is a prick. Knowing that you'd be out on the street is a powerful incentive to hold onto a job.

7. My guess
is that it is partly a personal loyalty (I know people who've known him a very long time, and apparently he wasn't always such a schmuck).

And partly like the frog in water that is slowly being brought to a boil - they carry on, business as usual, and don't necessarily stop to think about it.

It's a question I'm very curious about myself.

10. Lieberman brings a lot
of pork to that state. Connecticut is big on defense contracts. The last time there were cutbacks, there was a New London sub base on the list. Then, the base was saved after all. A lot of people seem to think Lieberman saved that sub base.
