About as successful as the anti-immigrant hate rally in Lewiston a few years ago.

6. I thought it interesting that the writer thought that a 52% to 40% lead was 8 points!
Sheesh! :eyes:

And as a part-time Mainer: Vote No on One!

7. Sure:
40 - 52 = <can't take 2 from 0 so take 2 from 10 and borrow one>
4 10 - 4 2 = 8

Let's double check: 100 - (40 + 52) = 100 - 92 = 8

9. I don't laugh at the size of the event, I do laugh that they call this a rally
Honestly our side has plenty of low turnout events as well so it does us no good to laugh at the number of people the other side turns out unless we want it to be used against us when people don't show up for our events. That being said it is laughable that they call this a "rally", and their organizers are clearly incompetent to leave the room looking so empty when they knew the media was there. If they would have just organized the chairs in a circle with one chair for each person that showed up then it would not look nearly as pathetic in the paper, but when you call an event a "rally" and then show a picture of a bunch of empty chairs that is extremely pathetic.

While I don't laugh at their turnout I do laugh at the pathetic way they promote their event, there may be small turnout events on both sides but I have never heard anyone on our side refer to a bunch of empty chairs as a rally.

10. Gay marriage critics say ‘radical’ groups at work

Jesse Connolly, campaign manager for No on 1, was quick to denounce Wednesday’s press conference as a “political stunt” and called on Stand for Marriage Maine’s leaders to speak out against what he said was hate-filled rhetoric. Connolly also pointed out that the Southern Poverty Law Center lists Americans for Truth as an anti-gay hate group.

11. Having been through the gay rights wars a few times in Oregon
I can tell you that quite a number of people prefer to practice their bigotry in the privacy of the voting booth, and would never go out in public parading their prejudice. Yeah, the rally number is pitifully small, but each one of those lunatics represents a good many ordinary-looking citizens who will troop to the polls on Tuesday and dutifully pull the lever to deny equal rights to all.

13. Ohhh...that is quite the crowd, a very white haired crowd.
And a minister says he will be forced to marry same sex couples. I thought they could choose who they will marry.

18. I am so happy you enjoyed it.
I was channeling a comedic character from a movie, maybe Ferris Bueller. I think she was a Marge, or should have been. Your name isn't Marge, is it?

That picture is classic.
