I think I'm one of the most forgiving democrats out there but I have this to say about Reid
First, I do appreciate the hard work he's done trying to get the public option on the healthcare bill. I don't care how Lieberman votes - I think we have enough votes without sucking up to Lieberman. But if for some reason there is a filibuster and Joe supports the republicans, then Joe needs to be stripped of all his committee positions.

I've tolerated Lieberman long enough and I understood that it was Obama that saved Lieberman's committee job. And I've been tolerant of Reid because Majority Leader positions aren't ones of popularity. But if Reid gives a free pass to Lieberman on a filibuster then Reid needs to strip him of his seniority and give the committee chair to someone else. Hell Spector has done more good for the Healthcare battle than Lieberman has and Specter only recently changed teams AND accepted losing all seniority.

If Lieberman filibusters and Reid doesn't strip him of seniority, then all I can hope for is the republicans to defeat him in November. And I know the rules at DU that say I need to support the democratic candidates (and I would never actively campaign against a democrat) but the republicans defeating Reid could be the best thing for the democratic party.

So Reid, grow a set of balls or let someone else run the senate for awhile.

1. Reid is writing the campaign against him.
And, really, he deserves to lose.

Who will the new majority leader be. It will still be a Dem, I am sure. I want a hard hitting, finger-breaking, take no prisoners Liberal.

4. Right now if there were a primary between Obama and Grayson
I'd vote for Grayson without a second thought.

5. This isn't about Obama - this is about Reid and allowing Lieberman to get away with it....AGAIN
:grr:

And btw, I'd still vote for Obama.

7. Like you said
"I understood that it was Obama that saved Lieberman's committee job."

How can you leave him out of this? This is about all the Democratic leaders and their tolerance for bluedogs and conservadem's. Singling out Harry Reid isn't enough. They all need to go. I don't care if it puts us back in the minority. This party can't pass it's own agenda even with a super majority it's so infested with Lieberman's.

8. Like I said - this thread is about Reid & Lieberman
The elections were overwith and Obama was trying to show he was the better man by asking that Lieberman keep his position. I highly doubt that Obama will interfere again with Lieberman.

But if you'd like to start your own thread about voting for Greyson over Obama - have a field day.

9. Can Reid use the reconciliation procedure and make Lieberman's vote irrelevant
Only need 50 votes for that along with Biden's extra.
It'd be great to make Lieberman irrelevant even before he's stripped of his chairmanships.

10. I really hope that's what happens. I know we have the 50 votes
but we dont' have 60 although several senators who said they would vote against the healthcare plan have said they would not filibuster.
