1. What's new? They've always rewarded people they make money off of.
Not carrying a balance has never pleased these guys.

It's always been a game of figuring how much of a balance to carry in order to beef up your credit.

Never more than you can immediately pay off, of course.

2. Even those that don't carry a balance make a lot of money for....
those bastards. Every time a person uses their card some merchant is paying the credit card company 3% to 4% of the purchase. That adds up to a lot of money. The fact is that they are just greedy and looking for new ways to make more money because there is never enough.

who holds a balance there.

I used to have to stand in a 'non-customers' line and have to wait for every third patron to get thru before I was allowed to cash my paycheck drawn on that very bank branch by my employer who kept her buisness accounts there. And they had to charge me extra to cash it, too. All those fees my employers and I paid, but I had to be treated as a second-class customer.

Everytime I'd get to the window, they'd ask "Would you like to start an account?" My reply was always, "No thanks."
