Subhuman Project: Pedal across the Atlantic in a submarine..
http://www.greenlaunches.com/transport/subhuman-project-pedal-powered-submarine-intends-to-cross-3700km-of-water-in-50-days.php

Fueling his passion for speeding up the underwater exploration, Ted Ciamillo intends to pedal across the Atlantic in a one-man submarine. The eco-friendly pedal powered sub is a larger version of the Lunocet. And what is Lunocet? Well, teaming up with marine biologist Frank Fish (is that a nickname?) of West Chester University, Ted had designed a carbon-fibre "tail" for divers, called the Lunocet. Akin to dolphins, Lunocet enables the diver to swim as efficiently as possible. Coming back to the new pedal powered mini-sub, it is going to be crafted out of light weight yet sturdy materials. To be precise, a stainless steel frame, a polycarbonate shell and a propulsion system made from aluminum and titanium.

Also instead of having a pressurized shell filled with air, it will be full of water at all times. Ciamillo will wear a wetsuit and breathe using scuba gear or a specially adapted snorkel. The guy has calculated about 50 days to cover a distance of 3700 kilometers of open water from Cape Verde off the west coast of Africa to Barbados in the Caribbean. Good Luck buddy!

2. I'm certain he will have a backup ship to sleep on, pump up scuba tanks and so forth..
It's been done in far more primitive vessels so I don't see why this one can't make it.

4. Good luck to him
I hope he can stand the cold waters, constant wave action and swift currents of the Atlantic. Not to mention the unpleasant effects of being in water 24 hrs a day for 50 days.

5. Probably more like 8 hours a day or so..
That's what the people who have swum the Atlantic have done..

This lady's longest day in the water was 8 hrs, her shortest was 21 minutes, she swam the Atlantic in 73 days.

8. He'll probably discover a new skin or lung disease.
Maybe they'll name it after him.

Okay, I hope he doesn't, but I don't ever want to spend 50 days in a wet suit breathing bottled air.
