Between the war on Christmas and the war on Fox news, our resources are stretched thin. For almost nine years now, ever since the Bush coup in 2000, we have been fighting to bring freedom and Democracy to a people whose fundamentalist religious leaders refuse to let them say "Happy Holidays" and I ask you, are we any closer to victory than we were nine years ago? And what could we have accomplished with the billions of dollars we have spent on secular "Seasons Greetings" cards if we had used that money here at home? Wouldn't that money have been more wisely spent on say, eradicating Polio or Smallpox? What if those oppressed Christmas worshipers don't want the freedom to say "Happy Holidays"? After all, they have only been evolving for 6,000 years while we have been developing since the Big Bang. Maybe we need to give them more time. I say we should just declare victory and go home.
As if this wasn't enough, now the White House wants to escalate the war on Fox News! All of us know that this is where the real terrorist threat to America has originated from all along but might this be to little, too late? Almost daily we are shown yet another tape produced in the caves of mother's basement from one of their terrorist leaders like Osama Bin Limbaugh, the Ayatollah Pat Robertson or one of their henchmen like the head of the never take a Bath party, Muhammad Zimam Glenn Beck.
These leaders and their fanatical followers, who are often indoctrinated in Madrases like Westboro Baptist Church where they are forced to read nothing, over and over again until their minds are completely empty, pose a clear and present danger but can we ever, really eradicate them? How many of our brave, progressive men and women are we willing to sacrifice? How many more will suffer injuries like Carpal Tunnel syndrome from turning off Fox news?
And what of our coalition forces? The press has been compromised. The Fairness Doctrine? Defeated. Truth in advertising? Pfffft! The FCC? Impotent, and no amount of Viagra can fix a case of missing balls. Even our elected Democratic majority seems to have suffered from too many spine injuries. To many have received stomach injuries rendering them gutless. The casualties have been many. The victories, too few.
The danger is real! The threat assessment is at Code Pink, but can we really win this war decisively or are we getting ourselves into yet another endless quagmire?
