1. Politico is Talon News, I'm just waiting for Jeffie's clone to appear...
Mike Allen certainly is vying for the position, imo.

2. Politico is such a weird site.
Every once in a while they'll publish something really interesting or worthwhile. And then every once in a while they'll do shit like this that really makes absolutely no goddamn sense. Oh well, guess you gotta keep the page views coming in.

4. There has been a definite pattern with them...
They came on my radar immediately because, unlike other blogs, new "news" entities who are around for quite a while before the 'big guns' aka the mainstream media uses them, Politico was immediately being quoted by CNN, etc, which raised my curiosity right away. Their reports, at the beginning, seemed to be 2 relatively neutral reports to 1 right wing propaganda report but as time has gone on it has radically changed and it is almost all right wing propaganda being propelled by the infamous "unnamed sources" excuse.

The desperation to discredit and smear the Obama administration has pulled the 'cloak' off and they no longer even try and throw in the odd neutral report.

5. Politico got immediate mainstream cred because it was founded by "insiders."
And because it actually had a print edition. But as far as I can tell it's basically become a political tabloid. So much of what they publish is just total nonsense intended to fill whatever you'd call the blog equivalent of cable TV news airtime.

7. There have been other outlets founded by former "insiders" that did not...
receive "instant credibility". It is not so much the former news "insiders", imo, it is who is funding it and, in this case, just like with Talon News, it is powerful right-wing money.

Most DUers know it is a right-wing tabloid but the MSM still uses them giving them the sheen of a credible news outlet for those less discerning, sadly.

6. Every Politico 'journalist' I've seen on CSPAN is, of course, a rightward "moderate"

8. "freezing out a tv network"...what did dana perino say about msnbc?
"a four-hour stop in new orleans on his way to a $3million fundraiser"
whereas bush just flew on past on the way to HIS fundraiser. a four-hour stop would have been greatly appreciated, even though it probably wouldn't have opened his eyes, anyway.
